But yeah I think mandatory military service is good thing to have, it will give some folk a bit of wakeup call and there is way less of the "firing a gun cave me ptsd" kind of folk.
Although, the Russian military are not the poorly trained and equipped, undisciplined game of uber-rapists they were in WWII.
They are a very different breed today, very well trained and equipped, disciplined.

Well that's a lot, but Russia would have a lot of territory to be concerned about, whilst Finland would only be defending its border against them.
Yeah and if we'd have to try and get out strength to same size we'd have to have 2/3rd of our population ether in reserve or active personnel, including women, underaged and unhealthy folk
Russia could probably muster a lot more troops than is written there.
Russia's economy is shite, and more babies are aborted than born.
They also have loads of territory to defend, so even if they muster a bunch of extra troops...
(The average lifespan is kind of short too.)
