No Joke, Security is a fun job for part time

2019-01-12 23:08:27 UTC

or Loss Prevention in retail

2019-01-12 23:08:30 UTC

I hate it, personally.

2019-01-12 23:08:39 UTC

I did it for a little bit, it was nice

2019-01-12 23:08:41 UTC

I did it for nine years.

2019-01-12 23:08:45 UTC

yeah lol - if u cant get security work 10 hours a week as a waiter or smth - i worked as a kitchen porter until i got a job as a DBA

2019-01-12 23:08:48 UTC

studeid infree time

2019-01-12 23:09:13 UTC

People watching is fun...you learn how to read people which is good

2019-01-12 23:09:21 UTC

People don't respect security. Management tends to treat you like an imbecile. And the average IQ is 97 and I'm almost 3 standard deviations above that. It's straight up oppressive to me.

2019-01-12 23:09:30 UTC

if you can read people you can have better interactions and keep yourself safe

2019-01-12 23:10:08 UTC

A lot of security folks did have lower IQ

2019-01-12 23:10:39 UTC

@Xychotic 😲

2019-01-12 23:11:20 UTC

Another book incoming

2019-01-12 23:11:26 UTC

I really don't mind working as a slave, so long as I am doing it to get money.
Basically every job ever.

2019-01-12 23:11:32 UTC

Nvm lol

2019-01-12 23:11:48 UTC

working as a slave = not getting money

2019-01-12 23:12:01 UTC

That's what happens when you work a job that pays less than maintenance.

2019-01-12 23:12:13 UTC

^

2019-01-12 23:12:16 UTC

McDonald's is actually a draining job, they pay you like $8

2019-01-12 23:12:24 UTC

@Xychotic yeah but that's optimal - you want a job that is not mentally draining so when you come back you can study

2019-01-12 23:12:54 UTC

Take up stoicism and minimalism as personal philosophies. And then write down details objectives and break them into small enough bits that you'll do them. And remember that they have to be things that you can do.

2019-01-12 23:13:10 UTC

@JDB Optimal is when you can actually study while on the job.

2019-01-12 23:13:24 UTC

Hence swing and night shift stationary security.

2019-01-12 23:13:33 UTC

@Xychotic ofc - but he isn't going to be able to get a job like that until he studies enough for an entry role position

2019-01-12 23:13:45 UTC

oh

2019-01-12 23:13:46 UTC

i see

2019-01-12 23:13:46 UTC

Man's Search for Meaning will help you think slightly different too

2019-01-12 23:13:48 UTC

what u mean

2019-01-12 23:13:53 UTC

i take that back

2019-01-12 23:14:04 UTC

yeah as night security you can just go line the whole time

2019-01-12 23:14:24 UTC

You don't really need to study for security. Just get a local guard card and say you can only want swing or night stationary.

2019-01-12 23:14:45 UTC

yeah i didnt mean that - i forgot that while working as secutity you can just go on ur pc

2019-01-12 23:14:47 UTC

Meow

2019-01-12 23:14:50 UTC

Don't bother with patrol. That's shit.

2019-01-12 23:15:14 UTC

It pays better, but you're not there to be paid, you're there to study and take foot patrol breaks.

2019-01-12 23:15:18 UTC

Labor unions are pretty solid

2019-01-12 23:15:24 UTC

the only time when school is maybe a good choice is if you are going to an elite school - where you are bascially guarenteed a high paying grad job

2019-01-12 23:15:41 UTC

It's more nuanced than that.

2019-01-12 23:15:48 UTC

if you can get a masters at imperial or oxbridge (i;m from the uk) then it's worth it

2019-01-12 23:16:01 UTC
