I spoke to a potential land lord about letting me pay him extra every month until the security deposit is paid off but he said he'd have to get back to me about it after he sees if my background chexk clears. I hope he'll accept my offer, otherwise i virtually shelled out $40 for a credit and background check for nothing.

Yeah and it should come back clean. My only concern with that is that I only listed my last place of residence and the background check lists my last three places. I didn't list them in the landlord reference section because I'm no longer in contact with the second to last, it's my ex's parents and the third to last i don't have a number for nor a last name.
