I'm not advocating for a carnivore diet, I'm simply saying based off scientific fact you need some ammount of carbs, and glucose to live. Or at least function properly

2018-10-13 20:38:18 UTC

The optimal diet is different for each individual. I personally have seen the keto (with IF) to be most effective at lowering insulin/inflammation and thus reducing fat accumulation and burning off stored fat. However, you don't perform better than someone eating more carbs probably. I don't think that research has been done.

2018-10-13 20:38:20 UTC

@machtyn Some people who start diets and have no idea what they're doing end up hurting themselves

2018-10-13 20:38:42 UTC

@KenneticEnergy I agree. I wasn't saying you advocated carnivore. I was using that as an example.

2018-10-13 20:39:06 UTC

@machtyn I gotcha. Again it was my bad for misreading

2018-10-13 20:39:25 UTC

Unless you're eating a cow in a sitting, protein doesn't effect ketosis.

2018-10-13 20:39:30 UTC

@KenneticEnergy Yes but you're confusing dietary carbs/glucose with bio-available glucose. The body will convert stored fat to glucose. Why do you think engineers in Silicone Valley are fasting and using keto to clear brain fog?

2018-10-13 20:39:58 UTC

@hel I don't think that is correct.

2018-10-13 20:40:11 UTC

@machtyn True, btw they're also microdosing on some pretty heavy stuff like acid and what not. So I hear lol

2018-10-13 20:40:24 UTC

You're still in ketosis, yes, but you are converting that protein to glucose for brain function.

2018-10-13 20:40:33 UTC

seen plenty of overweigh engineers in the SIlicon Valley

2018-10-13 20:40:34 UTC

Overeating protein will *slow* the rate of ketone production, not increase the rate of glucose production.

2018-10-13 20:40:37 UTC

@KenneticEnergy Oh, well that would help 😄

2018-10-13 20:40:46 UTC

@hel Ah, that makes sense.

2018-10-13 20:40:56 UTC

@Deleted User Of course. They sit all day.

2018-10-13 20:41:12 UTC

Worked there for 20 years

2018-10-13 20:41:17 UTC

100 grams of protein will convert to 50 grams of glucose @hel

2018-10-13 20:41:45 UTC

@Deleted User Yeah, you were telling me about that. Thanks for the heads up. I won't ever move there but I will work for a company there for good money remotely 😄

2018-10-13 20:41:47 UTC

@machtyn Yeah, I'm in anatomy right now and we looked at a human brain that was from an individual who died as a result of cocaine abuse. The brain looked black, and that was from the destroyed blood vessels as a result of cocaine use. I was shocked

2018-10-13 20:42:03 UTC

@KenneticEnergy That is insane.

2018-10-13 20:42:14 UTC

@KenneticEnergy That is awesome though! What's your career goal?

2018-10-13 20:42:20 UTC

Kennetic......people are doing LSD again????? WT Freak!

2018-10-13 20:42:46 UTC

@machtyn Yeah, especially if you think about how toxic blood is to neurons.. def a recipe for disaster.

2018-10-13 20:42:53 UTC

I'm trying to get into nursing school haha

2018-10-13 20:43:41 UTC

@Deleted User Yeah, Silicon Valley is apparently full of software engineers and social media engineers who are microdosing on acid and other psychadelics. It's crazy

2018-10-13 20:44:01 UTC

I am lucky.........my cocaine abuse............I came through it with most of my brain still inatct....but man.....at tax time, following the forms for all the clients I have.....yeah, there was a side effect...I have to go real. real slow

2018-10-13 20:44:11 UTC

They're doing it as a way to "concentrate" better, but it's insaine. That's like taking vicodin for a minor headache

2018-10-13 20:44:18 UTC

Have not done LSD since 1992.........

2018-10-13 20:44:59 UTC

@Deleted User For sure man. I heard back in the 80s/90s it was considered like a "classy" or "rich person's" drug lol

2018-10-13 20:45:22 UTC

I have several family members who suffered from cocaine addiction. Theyre clean now though

2018-10-13 20:45:45 UTC

LSD got popular on college campuses at the end of the 1980's......cocaine was and is still expensive. Nasty evil drug

2018-10-13 20:46:03 UTC

Been clean since 2004

2018-10-13 20:46:29 UTC

@Deleted User That's awesome for you, yeah I can never imagine ever taking those drugs. Stuff is literally poison

2018-10-13 20:47:08 UTC

I was raised better and I knew better but still did it anyway.....behaving like a woman.....blaming everything that was wrong in my life on "someone else"

2018-10-13 20:47:14 UTC

thankfully I got over THAT

2018-10-13 20:47:58 UTC

What baffles me though, is how strong nicotine is. Apparently it's easier for someone to quit a hard drug like cocaine or heroin than to come off of nicotine

2018-10-13 20:48:06 UTC

I still smoke cigarettes

2018-10-13 20:48:39 UTC

debatable.....my dad quit after 45 years of smoking. He just decided he was "done" and this was back in the 1980's

2018-10-13 20:48:47 UTC

@Deleted User They have some awesome programs out there if you're looking to quit. Statistically they say for most people it takes about 4-5 tries

2018-10-13 20:49:03 UTC

I really don't want to quit, truth be told

2018-10-13 20:49:25 UTC

That's amazing. Yeah my dad was the same way, some people are just able to put it down while for others it's worse than coming off of cocaine or heroin
