If you looked at what was happening on the protest front and the government front and the rants people were going on about true democracies and the raging over rights relating to the supreme court online while the first season was happening, the first season makes more sense from a social standing point. Seth seems to be trying to approach issues from all sides, and is getting better with that, but is limited in the fact he is trying to use a Star Trek template and is not used to the tools yet.
