as in, there is more than just left and right
But it's just a general term
To describe the main political factions, it's arbitriary
Yes it is
Good god there are like a dozen defintions of liberal out there
But let's ignore that for a second, the democrats are still overwhelmingly socialist
every major candidate running supports socialist policies, and people can't even define waht socialism or universal healthcare even means as terms
They don't even know America has universal healthcare according to the WHO
They wear shirts of heroes everywhere that are mass murderers, praise fidel castro and so on
Meanwhile they call the other side fascist, white nationalist and millions of people blindly believe it
it is kind of insane
A liberal is someone who's not bound by traditional religious or political alignments. A socialist is someone who supports socialism. Socialism is an idea of which the means of production are collectively owned or owned by a centralized government that has a nearly classless society.
Bill Clinton pardoned terrorists who tried to assassinate goerge bush for God sakes
A liberal is someone who's not bound by political alignments
HAH
no
on his last day in office
everyone's own preffered made up term for what they think it means is kind of irrelevant
There are a dozen defintions even according to mariam's webster's dictionary
I'm just looking up definitions man
The term is used interchangeably with lots of other terms
And then the left in practice vs. how it defintes itself is also different, like with feminists listing the defintion of feminism as if it automatically makes them good, or antifascists calling themselves that despite being more fascist than their enemies
in the end what matters is over 70% of democrats self identify as socialists
or being in favor of it
And that shows you the depths of the problem
The modern usage of the political terms left and right comes from the French Revolution of 1789 when supporters of the king stood to the president’s right, and supporters of the revolution to his left.
liberalism is left leaning
simply from where it came from. the origins of left and right
": a person who is liberal: such as
a: one who is open-minded or not strict in the observance of orthodox, traditional, or established forms or ways
bcapitalized : a member or supporter of a liberal political party (see LIBERAL entry 1 sense 6)
c: an advocate or adherent of liberalism especially in individual rights"
they are multiple definitions for the same term
yes
and liberalism is left
it could be someone who advocates for individual rights, or it could be that it's someone who is just a part of a "liberal" party
you can use the term to mean many things
calling the democrats, democrats, doesn't mean they actually are democratic, right
it's just a name
Sheesh
I guess that is my main point here
There is nothing liberal about the modern day left. They're full on authoritarians
there is only so much value in a word, in a name
