Not a bad idea. Breaks the electoral college into districts instead of states, am I reading that correctly?

2019-12-07 07:41:15 UTC

Yep

2019-12-07 07:41:22 UTC

One District gets one Vote

2019-12-07 07:41:27 UTC

It would increase representation which is good.

2019-12-07 07:41:29 UTC

While only net taxpayers should have a say in elected officials, it breaks the idea of every US citizen having a constitutional right to vote for an elected official.

2019-12-07 07:41:45 UTC

It's how the UK, Canada, Australia, India, NZ, and Japan do things

2019-12-07 07:41:54 UTC

I don't really care about what is or is not currently law, just what works.

2019-12-07 07:41:55 UTC

hmmm

2019-12-07 07:42:02 UTC

And I'm against any proposal that represses representation. DC is a great example of taxation with representation.

2019-12-07 07:42:20 UTC

If you're not paying taxes, you're not being taxed without representation.

2019-12-07 07:42:43 UTC

It eliminates votes that press for more entitlement spending.

2019-12-07 07:43:00 UTC

True. But people need to climb the social-economic ladder to attain the position of net taxpayer.

2019-12-07 07:43:01 UTC

AKA those with skin in the game get to vote.

2019-12-07 07:43:12 UTC

Yes, work and don't take welfare.

2019-12-07 07:43:16 UTC

Impressive, truly.

2019-12-07 07:43:38 UTC

I'm come to the bitter realization that there will always be those who cannot contribute in any meaningful capacity to society

2019-12-07 07:43:47 UTC

Another thing that would be good is "Ranked Choice Voting"

2019-12-07 07:43:51 UTC

You need social programs to stave off the 10-15%

2019-12-07 07:43:54 UTC

This would kill Vote Splitting

2019-12-07 07:43:59 UTC

Otherwise you end up with widespread crime

2019-12-07 07:44:04 UTC

Getting rid of Spoilers n shit

2019-12-07 07:44:29 UTC

The theory that you should have a welfare state to appease the lower 30 percent will work until it doesn't.

2019-12-07 07:44:40 UTC

Have you looked at the US debt and deficit lately?

2019-12-07 07:44:46 UTC

The US is already a Welfare State

2019-12-07 07:44:51 UTC

That's why I'm a huge fan of reforms like the latest to the SNAP provision

2019-12-07 07:44:53 UTC

Every Developed Nation is

2019-12-07 07:45:03 UTC

It's great if you can make such a system work, but it will collapse if not reined in.

2019-12-07 07:45:09 UTC

Since it has a Police Force, Military, and a Government which provides services

2019-12-07 07:45:10 UTC

In one way or another.

2019-12-07 07:45:15 UTC

Exactly. Why is why limitations need to be enforced.

2019-12-07 07:45:30 UTC

That's also why I can't contend with any Democrat espousing nationalizing programs.

2019-12-07 07:45:38 UTC

But the voters will not allow the gibs trough to be stopped until the system breaks.

2019-12-07 07:45:43 UTC

This is the problem.

2019-12-07 07:46:03 UTC

Example - extending healthcare to non-taxpaying members of this country would drastically destabilize the system.

2019-12-07 07:46:06 UTC

@J.R. BOB DOBBS Welfare just means Gov't Spending. So a Welfare State is just a State where the Gov't Spends Money on things like the Police/Fire/Rescue, DMV, Military, Gov't Institutions, Health Care, Education, etc etc

2019-12-07 07:46:11 UTC

True, but we'll have 4 more years of Trump.

2019-12-07 07:46:17 UTC

Trump is a stop gap for now

2019-12-07 07:46:25 UTC

In that respect, even China is a Welfare State

2019-12-07 07:46:28 UTC

No. Welfare does not just mean govt spending.

2019-12-07 07:46:38 UTC

And that's a radically disproportionate comparison.

2019-12-07 07:46:40 UTC

@The Supreme Xtream Welfare is medicaid, medicare, social security, etc
