even taking the low end estimate of 12% that means 10% of the people who are leaving prison did nothing wrong

2020-01-20 22:52:38 UTC

Alrighty well, do you want to let +60% of felons have the right to vote then?

2020-01-20 22:53:00 UTC

I'd rather let 10 ex cons vote than deny one innocent person.

2020-01-20 22:53:36 UTC

Then you're actually letting wolves outvote a sheep

2020-01-20 22:53:48 UTC

not really

2020-01-20 22:53:54 UTC

most people aren't ex cons at all

2020-01-20 22:54:09 UTC

and its not like they are suddenly going to make crime legal

2020-01-20 22:54:23 UTC

Idk man

2020-01-20 22:54:38 UTC

They say some crazy shit these days, gets crazier each one.

2020-01-20 22:54:49 UTC

Im talking about the ex cons

2020-01-20 22:55:00 UTC

I honestly trust them more than the average dem primary voter

2020-01-20 22:55:04 UTC

when it comes to voting

2020-01-20 22:55:39 UTC

at least they know enough about government to not want it to run everything

2020-01-20 22:56:35 UTC

>I honestly trust them more than the average dem primary voter

"Yeah I trust a former rapist to vote what's best for women's rights."

"I totally want a murderer to decide the next mayor/congressman."

2020-01-20 22:57:24 UTC

Yeah I bet gang members totally know what it's like about the heavy boot of the feds *maaaaaan*

2020-01-20 22:57:32 UTC

I should point out I think the only appropriate punishment for murder is life without parole

2020-01-20 22:57:42 UTC

so that one doesn't apply here

2020-01-20 22:57:50 UTC

So u dont even believe in capital punishment?

2020-01-20 22:58:25 UTC

the math is in, the trials and investigations to try and ensure we are actually killing a killer costs more than just keeping them there.

2020-01-20 22:59:24 UTC

also you can't correct killing an innocent person, you can mostly correct imprisoning them

2020-01-20 23:00:03 UTC

I am ok with capital punishment in the case of supremely overwhelming evidence

2020-01-20 23:00:11 UTC

but thats not 99% of murder cases

2020-01-20 23:00:42 UTC

Lmao "general" muderder cases.

2020-01-20 23:00:55 UTC

And ofc they're going to have a trial right?

2020-01-20 23:01:14 UTC

Its not like these things happen with a blink of an eye and it's off to the firing squad or a noose.

2020-01-20 23:01:27 UTC

They're gonna go to trail and make sure it's the guy

2020-01-20 23:02:21 UTC

death row in texas, just based on confirmed executions had a 5% innocent kill rate

2020-01-20 23:02:44 UTC

So 95% of the time it was the right purp

2020-01-20 23:03:04 UTC

5% of people were executed by the state for doing nothing wrong

2020-01-20 23:03:19 UTC

at least

2020-01-20 23:03:33 UTC

5+% techinicaly

2020-01-20 23:04:58 UTC

I am not willing to give the state the power to kill innocent civilians even by accident. Combined with it being cheaper to just keep them in a room I don't see a reason to have a common death penalty

2020-01-20 23:08:47 UTC

I don't want my tax dollars going for someone to have a sweet seat in prison for the rest of their life.

2020-01-20 23:09:23 UTC

I'd rather they go tward buying the rope.

2020-01-20 23:13:20 UTC

Look at the UK man, there's a shit ton of grooming gangs out there that have raped plenty of women and all because they don't want to be called racist they don't jail them properly and even let them out. They can vote, they get set free, and they keep raping and and murdering. This is a nice soft big blanket statement to make yourself sound benevolent but you're talking about a 5% innocent rate over here? They get killed? How many die on job duty at the factory? What's the mortality rate there? Innocents die all the time and it's just how the world is and you can't stop it.

2020-01-20 23:15:47 UTC

We aren't even talking about the people who are definetly convicted of murder getting hanged anymore. Its just more generally the goal post is kept getting moved to now include these innocents. They get off'd everyday by these same people. And you wanna give them the right to vote?

2020-01-20 23:20:50 UTC

Say a felon got out anyway. New leaf, became an Orthodox Christian, all the good stuff. Still shouldn't vote. Because it's about the principle of it.

2020-01-20 23:24:18 UTC

Voting is gay anyway. Think about it. Gays have the right to vote. If you vote you're practically gay yourself.

2020-01-20 23:24:46 UTC

Jokes lol... or am I? 👀

2020-01-20 23:29:55 UTC

2020-01-20 23:53:53 UTC
