i don't have a strong opinion

2020-02-02 09:31:44 UTC

so would you say it's fair for someone to leave all they own to their kids?
or should the government get a cut of it?

2020-02-02 09:32:09 UTC

i don't have a strong opinion either way

2020-02-02 09:32:19 UTC

pick one please.

2020-02-02 09:32:23 UTC

nope

2020-02-02 09:32:32 UTC

why not?

2020-02-02 09:32:42 UTC

because i don't have a strong opinion either way

2020-02-02 09:32:44 UTC

like i've said

2020-02-02 09:32:52 UTC

it's simple, should you chose where the spoils of your entire life go?
or should the government?

2020-02-02 09:33:16 UTC

i'm not going to repeat myself any more

2020-02-02 09:33:40 UTC

ok fine, you want to tax the rich at higher rates though.

2020-02-02 09:34:29 UTC

why not just have a simple flat income tax rate? say 15% no deductions.

2020-02-02 09:34:35 UTC

in general i would say tax systems should be progressive

2020-02-02 09:34:39 UTC

to some extent

2020-02-02 09:34:39 UTC

why?

2020-02-02 09:34:55 UTC

what did the rich do wrong to be taxed at 30cents on the dollar instend of say 5?

2020-02-02 09:35:01 UTC

because of the burden placed on the people in question?

2020-02-02 09:35:34 UTC

so you would burden the poor with a complex tax system to save them a few cents on the dollar?

2020-02-02 09:35:37 UTC

also because ideally it would limit the power of capitalists, however i do think this could be a sisyphean task under a liberal economic and political system

2020-02-02 09:35:56 UTC

The problem is massive corporations like Amazon paying low taxes

2020-02-02 09:36:02 UTC

that's a lie.

2020-02-02 09:36:04 UTC

Not individual people

2020-02-02 09:36:16 UTC

amazon pays piles of taxes, they just don't pay "this one tax"

2020-02-02 09:36:20 UTC

They get around taxes

2020-02-02 09:36:23 UTC

amazon has trucks, they pay taxes.

2020-02-02 09:36:30 UTC

they have buildings, they pay taxes.

2020-02-02 09:36:47 UTC

they have taxes they pay to employ people.

2020-02-02 09:37:16 UTC

heck, if you though you pay alot in taxes for your car, try a transport truck.

2020-02-02 09:37:59 UTC

amazon pays taxes, just not the one tax the news people asked about.

2020-02-02 09:38:29 UTC

They pay a lower taxe rate than average people

2020-02-02 09:38:39 UTC

i mean i think paying taxes could be made simpler

2020-02-02 09:38:51 UTC

ok and think about this for just one sec, where does amazon get it's money?

2020-02-02 09:39:00 UTC

i would grant that i'm less okay with progressive taxes in a country like the united states because i do not want white people to subsidize hispanics and blacks

2020-02-02 09:39:28 UTC

amazon gets it's money by selling crap, to people.
so if you tax amazon do you think they will just eat that cost?

2020-02-02 09:39:57 UTC

OR do you think amazon will do like they do with every other part of buisness, and find a way to pass that cost on to their coustumers?

2020-02-02 09:40:08 UTC

also in an ideal system i think income taxes could maybe be abolished in favor of consumption taxes, property taxes, and revenue gained from state owned enterprise

2020-02-02 09:40:22 UTC

Its a complicated question. I'm not a fan of taxes. But corporations tend to be able to get out of them. What should a tally hapoen.is an incentive to invest where the money is needed

2020-02-02 09:41:03 UTC

I'm not a huge fan of either of the main options because I don't think the government or nassive corporations will use the money well

2020-02-02 09:41:04 UTC

but do you understand that "corporations" don't even really pay the taxes they pay on paper? they HAVE to pass that cost on to the consumer, it's part of busness.

2020-02-02 09:41:16 UTC

well they don't have to

2020-02-02 09:41:18 UTC

they can
