i did like that hes supposedly putting out a bill that is making price transparency mandatory or somthing
reading a book called the price we pay and its pissing me off
without context that sounds like you're reading propaganda
It's a direct quote, not sure how that's propaganda
man gotta figure out how the internet works i suck at this
no I mean the phrase "I'm reading a book and its pissing me off"
its a book written by a doctor who went around and documented multiple cases of hospitals price gouging and predatorily suing low income patients
havent gotten far enough to reach a conclusion yet but so far the book is making me angrier with every story
how does a hospital sue a patient for anything but damage to persons or property?
they sue the patient for purposefully bloated medical costs that no one making less than 6 figures could hope to pay on time
So they sue the patients that can't pay their hospital bills?
and half the time the hospital would get the suit passed and garnish wages without the person being aware until its too late
@PurpleToad yeah, and the prices are arbitrarily raised and bloated with little to no transparency
fucking hell florida chill
Not surprising, its Florida
Civil disobedience is an American right
Aswell as the right to protest, idc what you believe in
Eehhh similar
Not completely familiar about all that happened with standing rock
Tbh
not surprising, there was a huge media blackout on it pretty early on
native americans were protesting against a pipeline and were pretty much assaulted to remove them.
wow, what is wrong with people, and I can't belive that i'm being forced to be on the same side as people who are protesting a pipeline.
all you gotta do is charge them with tresspassing if they are in the way of your building.
>The Federal Government is Assaulting the Injuns again
History repeats itself

so is he gonna be charged with a hate crime?
Well speech is a protected right. Civil disobedience can easily be a crime and often includes trespassing and vandalism. In this case trespassing on energy facilities. Trespassing by Greens who, by the way, like to practice industrial sabotage.
And, not to put to fine a point on it we require a lot of safety training and certification before we let people work with things like million gallon tanks of volatile petrochemicals. And do not allow unqualified individuals to go around turning valves. This is from a general aversion to *huge fucking explosions*.
oh if we are talking about them getting near stuff like that then sure, they need to be kept well away form that.
so i could assume that what the headline is calling "Civil Disobedience" is something closer to "destruction of property" or outright terrorism?
Yeah I just looked up the facilities covered. I actually worked in petrochem for a few years. Some of these are now under DHS regulations because they are the sort of thing terrorists wank to blowing up.
well as long as we are infact talking about actively entering into an area like that and not just standing out front with a sign.
but yah i do agree that while protests are a protected activity blocking roads and causeing damage is not protected.
And, reading the Bill rather than Common Dreams, The Intercept, or Pravda it is a misdemeanor charge.
One should always pay more than their fair share of attention to the government's definition of protest in contrast to their definition of criminal action
If that's true, a misdemeanor charge for demonstration is shockingly reasonable
