Wow it's almost like this was the the first time a right-wing nativist party actually ran in elections, who knew first time parties tend to fail to win seats!
the only "right-wing nativist' party in that ran was the National Party, which was formed in like 2017 but didn't really start to do anything till 2019
Wasn't the Irish election a snap election?
Maybe that's why the smaller and new parties didn't take much of the protest vote as they weren't fully prepared for an election
It wasn't a snap election, but the election date was announced out of the blue, only giving right-wingers around 2 weeks to prepare
most people thought there wouldn't be an election till at least April
don't be too surprised if Ireland has to have another election - not convinced a coalition deal will work out too well

Well we have the Irish national party but since they're pretty against immigration in general they're seen as literal Nazis so they won't get anywhere near government for the next ten years I'd say

seriously though, sure Ireland is around 90-95% white today, but in 2000 and before it was 99%+ and that number will likely continue to decline until the Irish are a minority, same thing is happening in Australia
it really doesn't take long at all, Australia went from 99% White to only 75% White in only around 50 years
Sein Fein is hardly nationalist, they want a united Irish state but they're ok with millions of non-Irish flooding into the country

I'd wager that most of the people who claim that certain groups (usually said about europeans) don't have culture are from cosmopolitain areas. I'm sure that they look around and see the local culture embraced by, to varying degrees, all those diverse people and therefore conclude that it is the baseline for humanity.
If you assume that what you grow up with is the baseline that everyone is born with, then of course you would also assume that anything outside of what you perceive to be baseline is foreign. It could also be an easy extension to make, that anything not baseline must be more developed. And if you assume that your culture is baseline, you would also look down on it in this light.
