Private sector nurses are worse off though

2020-01-09 15:29:07 UTC

And doctors are dependent

2020-01-09 15:29:09 UTC

Not sure about that.

2020-01-09 15:29:12 UTC

at the end of the day.. if more people use private.. they are still paying into the system... so theres less strain on the NHS but the same money going in

2020-01-09 15:29:17 UTC

They have better wages by far.

2020-01-09 15:29:19 UTC

Also emergency services are still NHS controlled

2020-01-09 15:29:24 UTC

Nurses definitely don't

2020-01-09 15:29:44 UTC

They do, it's why nurses are leaving to go private.

2020-01-09 15:29:51 UTC

They aren't though

2020-01-09 15:29:54 UTC

They are though.

2020-01-09 15:30:01 UTC

I dunno about the wages... but the benefits will be better.. i.e better pension

2020-01-09 15:30:02 UTC

They try it and then they go back to the NHS

2020-01-09 15:30:11 UTC

Its why they're trying to do everything they can to avoid losing nurses.

2020-01-09 15:30:15 UTC

Pension is better through NHS- they get a state one <:shrug:349342983763656705>

2020-01-09 15:30:16 UTC

possible better wages on a per hour basis

2020-01-09 15:30:22 UTC

Its the same reason the NHS clings onto doctors

2020-01-09 15:30:37 UTC

Even though doctors (by right/law) should not be entitled to a public pension

2020-01-09 15:30:44 UTC

no nhs people get final salary pensions

2020-01-09 15:31:01 UTC

my aunt works in the nhs .. shes got a final salary pension

2020-01-09 15:31:25 UTC

also she get it at 55 .. and thats when she can retire too

2020-01-09 15:31:50 UTC

she works on the mental wards

2020-01-09 15:31:56 UTC

That is the same for large chunks of the public sector (that put in lifetime careers)

2020-01-09 15:33:01 UTC

I know another lady who in her older age (worked private all her life in the airline industry) got a job which she was only at a few months in the council doing admin, but she got a really good pension out of it

2020-01-09 15:33:06 UTC

But yea there are private hospitals, and the general reason on why they are staffed is more down to locale than anything, in terms of pay, perks, and pensions the public sector is still more beneficial overall 🤔

2020-01-09 15:34:08 UTC

I would say more people on private who can afford it the better

2020-01-09 15:34:25 UTC

as a choice of course

2020-01-09 15:34:33 UTC

Yea except it wont work like America without scrapping the NHS, because ALL of the emergency side are still NHS

2020-01-09 15:34:37 UTC

Even with private hospitals

2020-01-09 15:34:53 UTC

right but everyone on private is still paying their NI

2020-01-09 15:35:17 UTC

Eh the public sector is beneficial to a degree.

2020-01-09 15:35:23 UTC

Which is fine, the point is the more people on private the more the calls of "well I don't use the NHS so I don't want to pay for it" will increase

2020-01-09 15:35:25 UTC

and its not like the US because in the US they have to do a lot of admin to check if you can receive medicare

2020-01-09 15:35:33 UTC

whereas in the UK its easy because everyone is

2020-01-09 15:35:44 UTC

In the NHS which is basically a huge rationing service it doesn't lead to huge benefits.

2020-01-09 15:35:56 UTC

The issue is they aint rationing

2020-01-09 15:36:00 UTC

I mean they are.

2020-01-09 15:36:21 UTC

People expect the NHS to do everything because "my taxes pay you" or "I got told its free here"

2020-01-09 15:36:29 UTC

And they do the best they can with what they got

2020-01-09 15:36:50 UTC

Eh. That's a great explanation for why you should expect little out of state services.

2020-01-09 15:36:57 UTC

Not really

2020-01-09 15:37:06 UTC

even if all of the top 20% get private healthcare theres still not enough people to get rid of the nhs... and even those 20% .. most of them will still want to keep the nhs
