08 recession was definitely due to, and exacerbated by government policy
Possibly Clinton telling banks to give out more loans to minorities could of caused it but it mostly the Banks fault.
no, not really
the cause hasn't been fixed yet
Thats one of them from what ive read.
it's an exacerbating factor
bank are allowed to create money out of thin air in order to lend to people for profit -tha amount they are allowed to lend is proportional to the size of their assets (historically "deposits") - called fractional reserve banking
poor regulation meant banks "bundled up" existing loans into products they could then trade, and stick on their balance sheets as asssets
bonds isnt it?
they were tiers of bonds they sold.
It was that sort of thing that caused the recession since these instruments grotesquely inflated their "asset" value, and allowed them to essentially loan out money they didn't have
bonds are a form of loan
They were selling the bonds that were fomr people who had bad credit. Something like that.
don't think "bond" is the appropriate term, but essentially yes
Ive seen the Big Short.
xD
Bottom line is, when the loans go bad, huge losses are incurred because it has a magnifying effect through the system
We're now at the point where banks don't need depositors to make loans or make money
And that's a problem
That doesnt sound good.
where?
They usually happen every 8 years
The markets have dipped a bit but they keep going up. They keep testing it so If that keeps happening it will eventually happen.
If there's a recession in the next 12 months, it'll be brexit-related. But I doubt there will be
I mean mostly NA recession.
But that would affect UK too.
The media will try to Blame Trump or Boris. It wont be tho.
Why would you think there'll be a recession in america?
I can't see it, myself
I watch a few traders
They do happen every 8 years and were 4 years over.
I get the impression there's been a lot of "puffing up" in the US markets
The markets just keep going up.
For sure
You might get a correction, but that doesn't mean it'll be a recession
Ye for sure
Might be a small correction or recession.
You can have a massive correction and still not have a recession 🙂
Well I cant see the markets to keep going up for the next few years. Not good.
