Pubs are done - the imposition of drink-driving laws killed them in rurual areas, smoking ban put nails in the coffin, and the overzealous duty on alcahol guaranteed it wasn't coming back

Most pubs in villages long since closed

well they all do food, but they are "mainly pubs"

My village has 3 pubs, each catering to a different class of people

You can hardly claim you live in a village then

You can walk between all 3 of them in about 10 minutes

There used to be 5

The whole village grew up around a carriage-stop, and then every time a new development was added, a pub was seemingly also added

I can't think of any village anywhere in my knowledge that had 3, much less 5 pubs

2 was the most, and that has 1 now

The villages around us have no pubs at all to my knowledge, so I assume we're providing for a wider area
