Because in America, firearms are ingrained into the culture, while here, they are generally unheard of

if you have need of a gun, you can already get one

not even a long long time ago - before they were restricted, they were really expensive for plebs

Guns were prevalent up to the early 1900's I believe

they were common in rural areas until 1986

Even plebs could get cheap ones, and the UK was actually once famous for it's tiny concealed weapons

They sort of fell out of fashion after the threat of being stabbed or shot in the street died down
