Whenever people complain about the $1000 price tag for the Index I try to justify it in alternative senses. You're not paying for a keyboard, or mouse. You're effectively buying a new console. @Coolitic
For some contrast:
GTX 2080tis sold out in just a few months, those are $200 more than the Index
A solid 21:9 workstation monitor costs around $1000 and those are mega popular.
Over the past 6 months since Half-Life Alyx's announcement we've gone from just shy of 1 million SteamVR users to just shy of 2.5 Million. 100,000 Index full kits have been purchased and there's now a sizeable backlane for pre-purchased orders as the Index sold out everywhere. It's definitely an expensive investment, and one many can't afford right now but with the advent of so many people dumping money into the industry and with enterprise lowering the bar for more specialized VR delivery (Force feedback, high FOV) we'll see a surge in popularity over the next 10 years.

Going from 1M to 2.5M players in SteamVR is a **GREAT** thing.
Also, the only complaint ppl have with the price is how half of it is the controllers themselves
What?
Index Controllers are £259
Yup
For context, Vive wands we're around £180
jesus
Yup
for controllers thats a bit steep
also you need space to use vr
