I'd presume that the rates post-transition are so HIGH is because of how crude our current methods of transitioning are. If we get to a point where we have near-flawless transition methods, there'd probably be a decrease of some kind (though I'm not even sure how much it would decrease, if at all)
That and those who have serious self harm complications as a result of GID.

Again. It's worse after surgery because CHEMICALLY, your brain doesn't know what to do when you've got no genitals. You don't have a vagina, you have a hole and open wound. The brain then spirals into post-term depression and suicidal tendencies.
