i apparently put 200 hours into the game like that

2020-02-27 21:39:41 UTC

i used to play C&C generals in slow motion

2020-02-27 21:39:55 UTC

comp had a 20GB drive

2020-02-27 21:40:03 UTC

and internet was dial-up

2020-02-27 21:40:16 UTC

broadband was a "NEW!" thing few had

2020-02-27 21:40:22 UTC

@Papa John's Day of Reckoning Honestly at that point I was firmly in the territory of "I can fucking prove this PC still can handle it" <:FuzzyPeach:583773935385182231>
Not that I had money for a new PC. Thankfully I could afford one in 2012 so I could play games with pixel shader past v 1.1 (the radeon almost fell apart by that time, system saw it as 8 different cards, what the fuck even, so eventually was forced to revert to the geforce 440 <:pepelaugh:544857300179877898> )

YALL WANNA SEE A MF DIE

2020-02-27 21:41:27 UTC

yeah same

2020-02-27 21:41:43 UTC

i was for a long time in the "my system can handle it" camp

2020-02-27 21:41:46 UTC

Oh, right. I had to swap it back, because those 8 virtual videocards started to swap the fucking display output

2020-02-27 21:41:57 UTC

And one day it just wouldn't come back on

2020-02-27 21:42:09 UTC

tbf it could handle every game at console fps that had been released at the time

2020-02-27 21:42:12 UTC

And yes, each of those falsely detected cards wanted its own drivers.

2020-02-27 21:42:15 UTC

i was amazed to finally have lights on the street on NFS carbon when i finally got me a 8800GT
iirc this was back when NFS carbon was the latest one

2020-02-27 21:42:21 UTC

Like what the fuck even, radeon /asus

2020-02-27 21:43:16 UTC

people who post that are the people who do nothing but leech off our memes

2020-02-27 21:43:26 UTC

youre just like a black person on welfare

2020-02-27 21:43:28 UTC

Also apparently it was important to install drivers 3 and 5, the rest was fairly skippable.

2020-02-27 21:43:34 UTC

I post many memes

2020-02-27 21:43:40 UTC

but stay salty

That was quite possibly the weirdest IT thing I've encountered over my ... well, two decades now, of computers

2020-02-27 21:44:01 UTC

bacc to computer talk then

2020-02-27 21:44:05 UTC

it had this fan that you had to reach back and push on a clip to remove it

2020-02-27 21:44:39 UTC

i had a mobo that plainly refused to play ball with my gpu

2020-02-27 21:44:47 UTC

one in three times comp failed to post

2020-02-27 21:44:50 UTC

i was trying to get it out and my hand slipped and ran along the edge of the plastic fan casing

2020-02-27 21:44:55 UTC

otherwise worked perfectly

2020-02-27 21:44:56 UTC
