Traditions afaik are morally/ethically permissible when adherence is voluntary and the subject matter of said tradition doesn't devalue life in any way (such as hazing/ritual sacrifice/playing the victim card for clout points at the cost of someone elses honor and dignity etc), however otherwise yes it wouldn't be unlike a cult to force people to do anything on its behalf really
