they shave down the hoof, and its set in and nailed

for hunt I use field shoes with some tread bite for both pavement and mud, winter they weld like a strip of boron or something into them and it acts as anti icer or something on any icy surface

cantering down a road corralling the hounds on ice isnt too fun at times
