Or maybe this is just the environmentalist's twisted form of 'optics'. Plastic straws was a foot in the door to get people to think about actual waste in the oceans. Perhaps they were trying to manipulate people on the right to be outraged by how stupid the shit about the straws was to get them to notice the actual problem.
Plastic waste in the oceans is a legitimate, solvable, environmental problem however so I don't know how I feel about this persuasion.
I think it might be a strategy that people are employing: Come up with some stupid commie bullshit that won't solve anything, conservatives get outraged and spread it, the kikes pilpul and move the overton window enough to where they get what they want because they offer some kind of 'moderate' position. People need to stop paying attention to the plastic straw style agitprop.
