I had a macbook pro for a good 4-5 years and it wasn't bad it was just basic
I could do all my photos and online shit with ease but so many programs weren't compatible and virtually no games worked and the ones that were ported over were butchered
So why pay 1000 dollars for something that's just okay?

Mac is only worth it if you wanna use their programs like pro tools and Final Cut Pro
Used MacBooks are pretty repairable and often have tons of useful software. Fcpx is actually pretty good now.
But even then... it's not worth it

apple only sells a very limited range of products, so they're able to make everything more homogenous and pretty
far fewer component variations than say windows computers
the people I know who buy apple products are always people are willing to pay double the price as long as they don't have to learn basic computer skills
like, Windows 10 is not hard at all to use
it's very normie friendly
Hell I remember using windows 98 as a kid and it wasn't hard to figure out
I've heard the excuse "Well I don't play video games so I don't really need a PC" but that doesn't excuse paying way more for either the same specs or less
