there are a lot of metamagic feeds and I think one of them lets you prolong spell duration. Pushes the spell one spellslot higher in exchange

In Pathfinder it's Extended Spell Metamagic Feat, doubles the time a spell lasts

Sorcerers have metamagic in 5e for it. Otherwise no.

Necromancy was gutted in 5e

Pathfinder and 3.5 have tons of feats but base spell was longer already iirc. And you can do more powerful undead.
