Infinite wisdom gives you all of the other ones. smh my head 😤
I'm really upset about GitHub being acquired by Microsoft
I'm not a CopyLeft guy, however I do back them in this case, as GitHub was this great platform to share open code projects
I think GitHub shat on everyone with that buyout.
Microsoft is the worst company to run a open source community.
I bet freenode is on fire right now
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I never liked GitHub
I personally found GitHub useful.
Jenkins, GitLab, and other build or code-repository services lacked in proper design.
I will say GitHub is a well-done and well-established service and community.
Their business model strongly encouraged open-sourcing projects. Microsoft buying this sends a strong message that this will no longer be a priority.
I never cared to have my stuff open source. I keep all my stuff on a private fileserver I host at home.
It's not even like a website costs that much
The projects I work on are paid accounts on GitHub who keep their code closed.
There are also open-source clones for GitHub that can be privately hosted.
Git on command
I will never use mercurial or subversion ever again
It's not like it's going away either, and has Microsoft even stated their plan for it? They might just want the profit and might not change it.
It's definitely a PR stunt
sec
oh god the hentai cat
Microsoft has been a bully buyer since foundation.
To expect them to change in a matter of a few years is a big lie.
so i should delete my account
You do you
I'm highly suspicious though.
lol
just joined #github on freenode
Github was an early pusher of "Code of Conduct" cancer, I don't feel sorry for their fate.
Also, why not mercurial? I find it superior to git in almost every way.
@DanielKO I find more concern in the community around GitHub at this point than the service itself. I remember the code of conduct crap.
@DanielKO One of the reasons I don't praise them. Another being I'm not on board with copyleft
Git originating from a copyleft group
iirc
But they don't force you to any of those things (copyleft, code of conduct), tho.
