I've been thrown off more than once by cars with yellow turn signals.
I literally could not see them because the car was braking
well that's weird, because I've never had that problem
Some cars are worse about it than others. Also depends on conditions, etc.
well yeah, hence it seems like a rather circumstantional issue
I've been thrown off by cars with 'blinking brake lights' in the middle of the day. Never understood the sense of having the indicator embedded in the brake light / using the same colour
I think all the brake lights blinking when the pedal pressure is high (indicating hard braking) would be useful, especially on the interstate
yeah, been thinking that for a decade or so
the human eye catches blinking lights better than a light going from 'off' to 'on' just once
I've seen them start to show up on higher-end cars
brake lights should blink rapidly and indicators should cycle in the direction the person wants to turn (eg four LEDs cycling left to right if turning right)
Although I'd hate to be the person who has to change an indicator in the future, though
I suppose you could offer them as a 'set' and if they become more ubiquitous then the price different wouldn't be that much in the end
But I suspect each and every car company would have their own setup, which would mean the customer is even more tied to dealer service centres to get 'simple' things like a mere light change done
You can do it with aftermarket replacement relays. They already have them for emergency vehicles
Fucking Japan....

Let’s be honest, though, the real assholes when it comes to lights of any sort are the douches with lifted trucks and xenon lights.
Because I love getting blinded right at eye level by oncoming traffic

a bunch of cars activate hazard lights under heavy braking, I don't know how that works with North American cars though. In terms of not being able to see indicators because of brake lights overpowering the amber, I'm not sure if that matters too much since the brakes tell you to avoid/be cautious anyway
I'm not a huge fan of air ride (despite liking dumb bouncy hydraulics) but damn that car looks good
I had a silly, most likely unworkable idea for reviving Pontiac once
Like as an independent company. Technically you could probably do it since it has been so long since GM has used that name. The trademark for that is likely well past it's use-by date.
Like the whole schtick for the company would be modular, high torque, high compression engines, starting with motorcycles
With a modular engine series ranging from 1 to 3 cylinders for bikes with 680cc cylinders.
Then branching into pocket rockets with small sporty/sports cars powered by 2-4 cylinder engines of the same series.
From there to SUVs with a similar modular engine series that is separate, but would share many parts with the inline series to keep cost down, including the 680cc cylinders
Interesting, but I do agree that part compatibility across many different models should be looked at more closely.
The biggest problem would be the jump from motorcycles to cars
You could absolutely make Pontiac a company of low-revving torque monster bikes.
But cars? That's a tough industry to get into
All the safety, emissions, etc requirements make entry almost impossible
Unless you're Tesla and you have the government throwing millions of dollars at you (plus your own personal fortune behind you) powering your startup.
Oh, yeah no. Pontiac as a motorcycle company is dumb lol
Idk. I could see it.
Brand it right and it could sell
Worst comes to worse you have a different name for the bikes but keep the engines
Just use a different name. You'd get *less* customers just from using the Pontiac name. That's how they died in the first place, by making shit-boxes that didn't deserve to sit next to the Firebird and GTO
True
But what about muscle bikes?
