Which, to be fair, is less efficient than the Cruze new or old.

2018-07-19 18:56:30 UTC

My mothers 2009 focus, which by American yearing would be 2010, was a little shy of $2000, yet a 2007 mini cooper would cost the same or more despite being a considerably worse car

2018-07-19 18:56:44 UTC

But it would still take half a decade for the cost to even out between a Corolla and a Prius

2018-07-19 18:57:49 UTC

the focus is more practical, it's more reliable, it's cheaper to maintain, it offers the same fuel economy, it is marginally slower but considerably more comfortable with more features inside

2018-07-19 18:58:01 UTC

I suppose it's just consumers being weird, really

2018-07-19 18:58:06 UTC

but a mini is a mini!!!1

2018-07-19 18:58:16 UTC

There's no practical reason to choose a Prius over other econoboxes

2018-07-19 18:58:21 UTC

Or, hell, over other hybrids

2018-07-19 18:58:22 UTC

I guess the mini is probably nicer to drive

2018-07-19 18:58:25 UTC

I'd buy an Ioniq

2018-07-19 18:58:34 UTC

That car seems fun

2018-07-19 18:58:44 UTC

Dual clutch transmission and instant electric torque?

2018-07-19 18:58:46 UTC

Yes plz

2018-07-19 18:59:00 UTC

but.... I dunno, if I'm buying a cheap car I don't care all that much about what it's like to drive

2018-07-19 18:59:05 UTC

I just want it to be reliable

2018-07-19 18:59:57 UTC

It's why I like focuses, they're reliable

2018-07-19 19:01:42 UTC

and cheap

2018-07-19 19:01:52 UTC

I wish the fiestas had more timing chain engine options

2018-07-19 19:06:27 UTC

Yeah, about that EcoBoost engine lol

Pretty much all of them are at risk for head warpage prior to 50k miles

The cylinders have a "water cooled jacket", so they're only attached to the rest of the head at the bottom end

2018-07-19 19:06:28 UTC

New Focuses aren't too reliable

2018-07-19 19:06:32 UTC

The automatics at least

2018-07-19 19:06:46 UTC

I wouldn't buy an ecoboost

2018-07-19 19:06:53 UTC

Didn't they fix the warping issue after the first few years?

2018-07-19 19:07:15 UTC

I don't like the idea of less than 4 cylinders in a car

2018-07-19 19:07:26 UTC

I know the next gen 3.5 has a different head design

2018-07-19 19:07:31 UTC

@LordCaledus It's an inherent flaw in the construction of the head. They'd have to drop the whole concept of a water jacket

2018-07-19 19:07:57 UTC

isn't the sr20 a water jacket engine?

2018-07-19 19:08:06 UTC

Strange. I know the 1.0T is unreliable

2018-07-19 19:08:35 UTC

But I've heard nothing but good stuff about the post-2015 3.5, 2.3, and 2.0

2018-07-19 19:09:38 UTC

I meant the block my bad haha

2018-07-19 19:10:08 UTC

Yeah I can see that being an issue in a boosted motor

2018-07-19 19:10:19 UTC

Unless you make the cylinders out of like Titanium or some shit

2018-07-19 19:10:57 UTC

I'unno, they must have changed something

2018-07-19 19:11:08 UTC

I rarely hear about problems with post-2015 ecoboosts

Wot is rain? you bogans!

2018-07-19 20:09:57 UTC

I've heard that a lot of hospitals have some pretty dark terms for motorcyclists in the rain; rolling donations and such

2018-07-19 20:10:22 UTC

which reminds me I really need to get my back tyre switched off my old wheel

2018-07-19 20:15:02 UTC

Buy one of these instead
