jalopnik is independent though

According to consumer reports the Toyota 86 is the most reliable new car you can buy in the US.

2018-07-24 22:44:21 UTC

they're the best

2018-07-24 22:44:30 UTC

that wouldn't surprise me

2018-07-24 22:44:40 UTC

low power, rwd, simple

2018-07-24 22:44:45 UTC

?

2018-07-24 22:44:47 UTC

Wait

2018-07-24 22:44:49 UTC

Hold up

2018-07-24 22:44:57 UTC

Last i looked they called it shit

2018-07-24 22:45:07 UTC

Fun, but shit

2018-07-24 22:45:23 UTC

I mean I just linked the consumer reports listing that you said you used as a reference yourself last year.

2018-07-24 22:45:31 UTC

It's right there.

2018-07-24 22:45:46 UTC

On my phone. Doesnt like opening links

2018-07-24 22:45:55 UTC

Man that must be an old phone.

2018-07-24 22:46:02 UTC

Nah. Just slow

2018-07-24 22:46:08 UTC

2017 J3

2018-07-24 22:46:12 UTC

Every phone I've used in the last 8 years has opened links fine.

2018-07-24 22:46:33 UTC

Technically it does. But it is a little slow under the best circumstances

2018-07-24 22:46:41 UTC

most complaints about the gt86 I've seen come down to it not having enough power because a lot of people don't seem to understand that it's a car sort of in the same bracket as the MX5 - it's a driving experience car, not a speed car

2018-07-24 22:46:41 UTC

With shit internet it is worse

2018-07-24 22:47:10 UTC

Well I would upload an image instead if I could, but only links are allowed.

2018-07-24 22:47:19 UTC

and don't get me wrong, I wouldn't buy one because I'd like it to be faster, or if I were to buy one I'd also be immediately buying forced induction for it

2018-07-24 22:47:41 UTC

The gt86 needs a supercharged uplevel version

2018-07-24 22:47:43 UTC

Badly

2018-07-24 22:47:53 UTC

but I also won't complain about it being as it is, only that they don't also offer a forced induction option from the factory

2018-07-24 22:47:57 UTC

And the brz needs a high revving 2.5L

2018-07-24 22:48:35 UTC

I think forced induction would solve any power issues with the car

2018-07-24 22:48:50 UTC

For the 86 yes

2018-07-24 22:48:56 UTC

it's the same car

2018-07-24 22:49:03 UTC

Well yeah.

2018-07-24 22:49:24 UTC

But why buy the brz if the 86 is the same all the way down to the engine?

2018-07-24 22:49:37 UTC

because the brz is usually cheaper

2018-07-24 22:49:44 UTC

Plus a turbo brz might mess with the wrx

2018-07-24 22:50:19 UTC

at least here, subaru seem to apply builders discount to the car

2018-07-24 22:50:26 UTC

so it's like 2k cheaper than from toyota

2018-07-24 22:50:33 UTC

despite being identical aside from aesthetics

2018-07-24 22:52:28 UTC

Not sure if they do that here. Never considered buying one so i havent looked

2018-07-24 22:52:38 UTC

If they do, them alright

2018-07-24 22:52:56 UTC

Toyota still needs to do something if they want to sell theirs tho

2018-07-24 22:53:28 UTC

toyota don't seem interested in selling them honestly

2018-07-24 22:53:31 UTC

And if subaru is gonna do tit for tat, they shouldnt use the same strategy. In part because it would encroach on the wrx
