haha
That's a big engine for small numbers...
Oh, on the subject of British powerplant origins, the current McLaren V8 being a Nissan engine also became kind of a meme after people found out about its origins.
It's not literally one though.
That's like calling the GM LS a Ford engine
But what happened is in developing their own in house V8 with Ricardo, they bought the rights to the old Nissan VRH race engine, which was used in Group C, GT1, other GT cars... etc.
In my opinion it's actually a good thing to see something based on that engine actually being put to good use in a road car though, since Nissan never did it themselves.
I mean they made a really cool supercar in the R390, but then never produced it.
GTR V8 is not bad
it works
worse things have happened
Rover V8 was a Buick V8 but story I heard was the dude found it in a scrap yard
This is perfect he said!
Well most of Nissan's original factory equipment and original vehicle plans came from the US, it all goes around.
Which is also why the idea of what actually defines the origins of a car is not very clear cut.
Yeah, the Nissan V8 in the Titan is a carbon copy of the GM LS
Manifolds bolt right on
Isn't the titan v8 a dohc 32v?
The Nissan heads are within .009in of the LS engine block
having heads align somewhat closely doesn't make an engine the same or even compatible though
When you're copying a V8 block, yeah, it kind of implies they share a design history
Same bore/stroke, same coolant ports
a DOHC engine is a long way from being a carbon copy of any pushrod, even if there are design similarities
Okay, anyways
On the subject of Mustangs not selling super well:
(in the UK)
Isn't that a matter of the things being new rather than not selling well?
I mean, here where I am (in the US) I see a grand total of, what, 1 or 2 current gen Mustangs in a month?
Technically I see them more often, but it's almost always seeing the same car multiple times.
I see a TON of Mustangs, in total, but not a whole lot of new ones.
I think we kind of instinctually lump together all the cars of a given nameplate in some circumstances.
lol the turbo 4cyl ones remind me of like a 240sx
Loud, and ricey
The 2.3 ecoboost is legit the worst sounding 4 banger ever.
The friggin 4JJ1 sounds better ffs
Tbh, Ecoboosts in general sound awful.
I think Ford tries way too hard to make them sound like the engines they replace, and they end up sounding like shit instead.
Like, you can have a V6 that sounds good.
