I'm JUST SAYING, they could be a price leader in the segment

2018-08-13 22:17:48 UTC

I mean I could see the entry level of the mid-engined one getting in below 100k, but whatever model that is will not be the hero poor man's supercar that's gonna beat the 488 in a comparison test. .

2018-08-13 22:17:55 UTC

Well it wouldn't be, the 911 is cheaper than that.

2018-08-13 22:18:01 UTC

Of course not

2018-08-13 22:18:52 UTC

I'm willing to bet there will be people that just say "I want a mid engined corvette", for the sake of what it is

2018-08-13 22:19:13 UTC

Yeah there will, but will those people want the lowest performance version of it?

2018-08-13 22:19:31 UTC

You could say the same about the Corvette now

2018-08-13 22:19:47 UTC

I honestly think they missed the boat on this, and should have done it decades ago and established the model when there was list stiff competition.

2018-08-13 22:19:56 UTC

Yes

2018-08-13 22:21:13 UTC

Well no you couldn't because right now the base Corvette is actually a relative "bargain" for the performance and engineering you get. There's really nothing else quite like that in the 60k range.

2018-08-13 22:21:55 UTC

If you lose that, it's not suddenly a good alternative to the 911 because it's much cheaper, it has to actually be outright better in all areas because it's the same price.

2018-08-13 22:22:17 UTC

idk if a 911 would be a competitor

2018-08-13 22:23:05 UTC

It'd be punching above its weight most likely, and is heavier with higher displacement

2018-08-13 22:23:23 UTC

well, I take that back, maybe it wouldn't be heavier...

2018-08-13 22:24:01 UTC

Well if it were heavier than the 911 it would be an even harder sell because the 911 is a 4 seat car with a steel chassis.

2018-08-13 22:24:15 UTC

Right, that's what I thought...

2018-08-13 22:25:22 UTC

Anyway, this is all wild speculation, I hope it's a great success, but I still say that the peak time to introduce something like this would have been back in the late 90s where it would have been possible to sell it at a reasonable price and it would have been thrown right into the mix of top sports cars.

2018-08-13 22:27:43 UTC

Also would not be surprised if entry level smallest displacement one has some kind of low pressure twin turbo powerplant with the way things are headed.

2018-08-13 22:40:48 UTC

In other news

2018-08-14 10:03:20 UTC

2018-08-14 11:33:35 UTC

2018-08-14 11:33:42 UTC

You just hate familes are you AntiFA?

2018-08-14 16:51:26 UTC

I hate bad cars

Another mid engine Covette render ewwww

2018-08-14 18:29:25 UTC

That just looks like any one of the dozens of "start up supercars" that show up at the geneva auto show.

2018-08-14 18:29:32 UTC

Insanely generic render.

2018-08-14 18:29:58 UTC

Oh wow, looking at the Alonso news now

2018-08-14 18:30:48 UTC

I said it before, I don't think I said it in here, but what he really wants is that Indy 500 victory, and it's no surprise that he'll put all his focus on that if McLaren can't give him a car that can win F1 races.

He might be in a IndyCar McLaren

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
