from elsewhere, checks out for me:

>on the subject of google search filters, check out something incredibly blatant I recently found. https://www.google.com/search?tbm=shop&q=kalishnikov+gun+replica - note that I (accidentally) misspelled "kalashnikov". Note that you get a bunch of search results, many with "kalashnikov" in the title. Note that there's a recommended spelling change to "kalashnikov". Click the spelling fix, watch all the search results instantly vanish!

well, I'm not using a VPN at the moment

2018-03-07 11:31:54 UTC

hmm.

2018-03-07 11:32:02 UTC

come to think of it, shouldn't make a difference

2018-03-07 11:32:03 UTC

however

2018-03-07 11:32:11 UTC

if I lop off kalash altogether and just keep 'gun replica'

2018-03-07 11:32:56 UTC

I get results

2018-03-07 11:33:14 UTC

perhaps it's a bit like the 'white inventors' thing

2018-03-07 11:33:27 UTC

where it assumes because the word 'white' is used it flips the script

2018-03-07 11:33:39 UTC

if you just search for 'inventors' then the white and black inventors show up

2018-03-07 11:33:40 UTC

etc

2018-03-07 11:34:12 UTC

as an example

2018-03-07 11:34:17 UTC

get plenty of results

2018-03-07 11:34:26 UTC

barely any m-16s though

2018-03-07 11:35:28 UTC

seems more to do with 'kalashnikov' for some reason

2018-03-07 12:22:46 UTC

meanwhile

2018-03-07 14:13:48 UTC

@zahlman That was brought up in the past week, but according to Tim Pool that was implemented 6 years ago

2018-03-07 18:40:27 UTC

huh.

2018-03-07 18:40:47 UTC

@Legiondude that's.... *really awkward*.

2018-03-07 18:41:06 UTC

like, "pay no attention to the man behind the curtain" tier

2018-03-07 18:55:28 UTC

@zahlman you saw my reply to that though, right?

2018-03-07 19:09:38 UTC

idk what's going on with "white inventors", but the families thing is easily enough explained by everyone else's SEO, I think

2018-03-07 19:14:17 UTC

you saw the m-16 results though, right

2018-03-07 19:14:20 UTC

and the ak-47

2018-03-07 19:14:55 UTC

we know how SJWey Google can be, but until I get concrete evidence otherwise, it would seem that the algorithm gets hung up on certain words and word combinations

2018-03-07 19:35:52 UTC

but why would it? that's the thing

2018-03-07 19:36:21 UTC

it's really hard to come up with an explanation other than a hard-coded intentional failure, even if they don't have a consistent principle for what failures to cause

2018-03-07 19:41:54 UTC

neither does it make sense to me that they'd hard code it to fail on 'kalashnikov' but not fail on 'ak-47'

2018-03-07 19:42:01 UTC

joe average barely would know wtf a kalash is

2018-03-07 23:19:50 UTC

@zahlman It was implemented as a response to the Sandy Hook shooting

2018-03-07 23:19:54 UTC

IIRC

2018-03-08 06:12:18 UTC

huh.

2018-03-08 06:36:10 UTC

One has to wonder, how often do sand niggers blame the USA for random bullets landing on people's head, when they were fired by other sand niggers shooting into the air?

2018-03-08 06:42:48 UTC

>I can only imagine that trickshot killcam
