There is a saying that when everyone else is wrong it's usually just you

2018-07-17 22:37:26 UTC

I don't think that's the case but America has held this position as the world's most physically libertarian place pretty much since it gained independence

2018-07-17 22:39:00 UTC

So America was ahead of the curve, and you're asking why should Europe grow the cajones to throw off the historical shackles of feudalism? Unless you're in charge of your own protection, you're nothing more than someone else's property.

2018-07-17 22:40:34 UTC

All I said was that gun control is needed until you can "re-educate" the populace for lack of a more flattering term to regain their thirst for their own personal liberty

2018-07-17 22:40:48 UTC

Imagine giving these "brain-washed" people the right to own guns tomorrow morning

2018-07-17 22:41:18 UTC

Those that should be owning them won't

2018-07-17 22:41:41 UTC

You'll have an absolute horror period until the populace is forced to learn this on their own

2018-07-17 22:43:47 UTC

The flip-side of gun control, is state protection. They're two terms for the same thing.
As long as the people are not entrusted with the responsibility of their own protection, they will never ask for it.

Why should the state 're-educate' anyone? It's against their own interests to have the population armed.

2018-07-17 22:46:21 UTC

I'm not saying the state has an interest in doing this

2018-07-17 22:46:26 UTC

I'm saying this is what you have to do

2018-07-17 22:46:34 UTC

Pretty much as a mandatory measure

2018-07-17 22:46:43 UTC

So that lifting gun control won't end in disaster

2018-07-17 22:47:55 UTC

At least something like gun responsibility training in school

2018-07-17 22:48:04 UTC

Anything really

2018-07-17 22:48:24 UTC

Else you'll be lifting the pen from the sheep who've forgotten how wolves look like

2018-07-17 22:48:38 UTC

You are saying:
Step 1: Educate the populace on gun ownership
Step 2: Make guns legal

2018-07-17 22:48:45 UTC

Yes

2018-07-17 22:49:06 UTC

Both are impossible via legislation.

2018-07-17 22:49:32 UTC

🤔

2018-07-17 22:50:02 UTC

You think your politicians would allow that? The same ones that allow themselves to be raped by Brussels?

2018-07-17 22:50:20 UTC

I'm giving an instruction manual

2018-07-17 22:50:27 UTC

It's not my fault they don't follow it

2018-07-17 22:50:56 UTC

Attempting to ban weapons is not nessesarly new

2018-07-17 22:51:07 UTC

The other alternative is a violent revolution and I'm not sure that's a good idea 🤔

2018-07-17 22:51:18 UTC

If it can be avoided

2018-07-17 22:51:20 UTC

Define 'violent'

2018-07-17 22:51:38 UTC

Elections are forceful violence <:GWragMonkaS:390321742624849920>

2018-07-17 22:51:44 UTC

Kek

2018-07-17 22:51:45 UTC

But unironically

2018-07-17 22:52:02 UTC

Well if the culture manages to switch enough on its own good on the people for voting for gun rights

2018-07-17 22:52:47 UTC

That is why rule of law is greater than democracy in our republic

2018-07-17 22:52:50 UTC

I highly doubt you could get something like this on a ballot.

But.... there's a possible solution soon with the US legalizing 3D printed firearms

2018-07-17 22:53:15 UTC

It is not legalized

2018-07-17 22:53:31 UTC

They just realized they could not constitutionally ban it

2018-07-17 22:53:41 UTC

It was always protected under free speech

2018-07-17 22:53:51 UTC

Either way, it's effectively legal

2018-07-17 22:54:01 UTC

Well 3d printing is going to put a massive strike through the concept of gun control

2018-07-17 22:54:10 UTC

Not trying to be disagreeable

2018-07-17 22:54:13 UTC

It practically forces governments to either legalize it or become incredibly draconian

2018-07-17 22:54:23 UTC

@Ruggwain exactly

2018-07-17 22:54:41 UTC

Just saying that legal not legal presupposes that it hinges on the government
