There is a reason why the first question when telling someone you want to buy a gun is "why? do you want to kill someone?"

It's not possible to lift gun control from such cultures without changing the culture first

Your European mindset is a recent invention, and sort of psuedo-brainwashing enacted by the same reasoning that brought you the fourth-reich EU

Have you considered that the US is one of the only ones to hold out? What makes you think that America invented this culture?

There is a saying that when everyone else is wrong it's usually just you

I don't think that's the case but America has held this position as the world's most physically libertarian place pretty much since it gained independence

So America was ahead of the curve, and you're asking why should Europe grow the cajones to throw off the historical shackles of feudalism? Unless you're in charge of your own protection, you're nothing more than someone else's property.

All I said was that gun control is needed until you can "re-educate" the populace for lack of a more flattering term to regain their thirst for their own personal liberty

Imagine giving these "brain-washed" people the right to own guns tomorrow morning

Those that should be owning them won't

You'll have an absolute horror period until the populace is forced to learn this on their own

The flip-side of gun control, is state protection. They're two terms for the same thing.
As long as the people are not entrusted with the responsibility of their own protection, they will never ask for it.

Why should the state 're-educate' anyone? It's against their own interests to have the population armed.

I'm not saying the state has an interest in doing this

I'm saying this is what you have to do

So that lifting gun control won't end in disaster

At least something like gun responsibility training in school
