Collectivism would be to say that we should favor one group over another, like saying that we should favor straight cisgender people over trans people, because trans people are a smaller group. We can't deny that trans people are a group and experience life differently from people in the cisgender group. So intersectionality acknowledges these smaller sub groups and all the individuals in them, no matter how small the group. I can't accept that every single individual is simply an individual and there's nothing common to a group of individuals. Yes, there are groups of people, and we have to acknowledge that these groups of people experience different struggles than the average white heterosexual middle class person, because that's how we work towards equality for all people. It's not a matter of every single person in these groups experiencing the same types of privileges and disadvantages either. For general groups there are experiences common to an individual which we can say are exclusive to certain classes of people, or much more common to certain groups of people than others.```
