`This idea that he perpetuates the "patriarchy", that's another thing I find fucking retarded. The patriarchy to me is a real thing. Not that it's an organization or something, but a way of thinking. It's the reason why you see sexism, which yeah people do actually hold sexist beliefs. It's also the reason that you see people hating trans people, because being trans is like the ultimate slap in the face to a society that says men should be masculine and women should be feminine. People respond to the breaking of their world view of the binary male and female based on genitalia by muttering some nonsense they pulled out of their ass about how there's only two genders. So yeah, I would say that patriarchal norms, or more colloquially what is called "the patriarchy" (which sounds sort of like a stupid conspiracy theory if it's not elaborated on), is an actual thing. It's just sad to me when I see people erroneously using the word in a way which doesn't really even make sense, and isn't based on any sort of consistent statement.`
