The story of who Thatcher did get the respect of SAS
SAS loved her: She backed us
By ANDY MCNAB, Sun Security Advisor
I MET Maggie three times when I was in the SAS — twice in Hereford and once on
her surprise visit to Northern Ireland.
Everyone loved her because she wasn’t afraid of using us — and she proved that
in her first year when she sent B Squadron into the Iranian Embassy.
She was given a counter-terrorism hostage demo on her first Hereford visit.
She sat bolt upright when the team came rushing into the Killing House
throwing flash-bangs and firing their machine guns at the targets.
One of her aides crouched down and she hissed at him: “Get up George — you’re
embarrassing us.” That gave her a huge amount of respect among the lads.
Then in 1987, Mrs T took us by surprise when she turned up at our Belfast
hangar. It was after the Brighton IRA bomb and the gloves were off.
I remember her asking us: “Tell me what you need to fight this war.” And we
got it.
Lady T looked after us, so we looked after her. She had real b*******, even
though she didn’t have any at all.
yeah, the rich can't help but think of the poor as different and unapproachable
especially back in orwell's day
i mean, I have trouble imagining it... so the way I see it is how the rich of the day likely saw it
