Not all people obviously

2018-05-04 17:27:52 UTC

But it degrades it

2018-05-04 17:28:16 UTC

I've stumbled across so much good music simply from using Coub.com, which is basically a Russian "GIFs with sound" website

2018-05-04 17:31:06 UTC

So am I just hopelessly lusting after a bygone Era of nationalism?

2018-05-04 17:33:57 UTC

nah

2018-05-04 17:34:05 UTC

Not necessarily. People haven't fully figured out how to deal with the internet

2018-05-04 17:34:12 UTC

But they're slowly figuring it out

2018-05-04 17:34:23 UTC

Paradigm shifts in life tend to balance out like this

2018-05-04 17:34:28 UTC

Happened with TV and Radio

2018-05-04 17:34:33 UTC

cultures have changed over the years regardless, often through foreign influence

2018-05-04 17:34:39 UTC

^

2018-05-04 17:34:46 UTC

This just opened the floodgates of that influences

2018-05-04 17:34:47 UTC

Coming to Australia in the 90s and seeing everyone play basketball was pretty wtf in of itself

2018-05-04 17:34:50 UTC

It ought to balance out

2018-05-04 17:34:58 UTC

> People are so interconnected regardless of geographical distance that your social group is no longer determined by borders

Castle of sand. We're connected by the internet but we don't have the mechanisms to sustain the social aspects, so we end up disintegrating

2018-05-04 17:35:16 UTC

Agreed

2018-05-04 17:35:30 UTC

That's why I think it'll slide backwards from the initial craziness

2018-05-04 17:35:35 UTC

But I guarantee you if you flick through the pages of history you'll often stumble across 'traiditional' american/german/british/russian/japanese cultural norms that turned out to have their origins in other places

2018-05-04 17:37:13 UTC

think of how strongly people associate karate witih Japan nowadays

2018-05-04 17:37:42 UTC

yet the first karate club wasn't started in Japan until around the 1930s

2018-05-04 17:41:50 UTC

It's when I come across stuff like this that I get creeped out...
https://www.quora.com/Why-is-national-identity-important

2018-05-04 17:44:50 UTC

huh

2018-05-04 17:46:06 UTC

@Fitzydog those answers are pretty gay

2018-05-04 17:46:23 UTC

it should be renamed to queera

2018-05-04 17:50:07 UTC

Lol right? But look at those upvotes. If that's a popular opinion with no counter argument.... D:

2018-05-04 17:54:18 UTC

tbh,it's not a very well seen question

2018-05-04 17:54:38 UTC

there are actual nationalists on quora and they do get upvotes

2018-05-04 17:54:57 UTC

@Fitzydog do you frequent quora or?

2018-05-04 17:59:39 UTC

No, I'm just throwing shit at the wall, talking out my ass, and sampling the Internet waters.

IMO, this identitarian nonsense is really unhealthy and won't fade away on its own.

2018-05-04 18:04:18 UTC

shits, assholes and water

2018-05-04 18:04:19 UTC

got it

2018-05-04 18:05:02 UTC

What can I say? I'm a plumber

2018-05-04 18:06:33 UTC

"True Communism has never existed" is correct only insofar as Communism as is preached is fantasy

"True Communism has never been tried" is a bit more iffy, since many countries have tried to move towards implementing Communism - and the fact that everything has gone to shit before even reaching the end-goal is testament to the utopian fallacy of 'tw00' Communism

2018-05-04 18:06:35 UTC

Regarding Quora, certain questions are just designed to fit a narrative.

2018-05-04 18:06:43 UTC

yep

2018-05-04 18:06:58 UTC

So only a certain group of people will look for them, and answer them.

2018-05-04 18:07:03 UTC

Good point @Reaps

"Does capitalism kill more than communism?", nobody sane would ask that. Commies will flock to that question.

2018-05-04 18:08:05 UTC

yep

2018-05-04 18:08:09 UTC

But under capitalism 86 million people have died due to “poverty related causes”
