But that just means more coal to need mining

2018-05-09 01:06:51 UTC

just lower taxes for companies who makes "clean energy"

2018-05-09 01:07:05 UTC

nuclear energy is not the only clean energy

2018-05-09 01:07:06 UTC

Try explaining to environmentalists, where the uranium comes from. They scoop it up from the ground.

2018-05-09 01:07:33 UTC

i mean, Africa can be used to gather solar power

2018-05-09 01:07:36 UTC

So the more uranium we use, the less radioactive the environment becomes.

2018-05-09 01:08:39 UTC

There are basically two ways to gather solar power. Solar panels, that are very nasty to make, and require non-trivial maintenance... or with mirrors pointing at a boiler, which needs... water.

2018-05-09 01:09:29 UTC

@DanConway he's angry

2018-05-09 01:11:35 UTC

Some panels can lose up to 3% efficiency per year. That's not counting the erosion and dirt accumulation over the panels.

@DanielKO
RE; Mirrors at a Boiler

Those burn the wings of birds. Literally.

2018-05-09 01:24:41 UTC

You're thinking about it wrong.

2018-05-09 01:25:03 UTC

We're guiding evolution.

2018-05-09 01:25:41 UTC

Weeding out the birds that can't figure out the extremely bright, hot boiler is dangerous.

2018-05-09 01:28:04 UTC

The main problem, regardless, is, it's not always sunny. It's not always windy.

2018-05-09 01:28:47 UTC

Not many good ways to store the excess power, when you happen to have an excess.

2018-05-09 01:30:24 UTC

So, invest in better batteries

2018-05-09 01:30:42 UTC

Invest in nuclear power

2018-05-09 01:30:57 UTC

or even cold fusion

2018-05-09 01:31:19 UTC

Batteries are even nastier to make than solar panels, and degrade even faster.

2018-05-09 01:31:19 UTC

just gotta find a way to deal with the byproduct, other than that its pretty environmentally safe

2018-05-09 01:31:30 UTC

"other than that"

2018-05-09 01:31:31 UTC

lol

2018-05-09 01:31:44 UTC

I mean it doesnt pollute the ai

2018-05-09 01:31:46 UTC

air*(

2018-05-09 01:31:56 UTC

It pollutes the river by my house

2018-05-09 01:31:59 UTC

Doesn't pollute anything if you do it right.

2018-05-09 01:31:59 UTC

@DanielKO
Currently, yes

2018-05-09 01:32:18 UTC

If it gotta leak probly, then ye may wanna get hazmat team in tho

2018-05-09 01:32:51 UTC

HMMM

2018-05-09 01:33:12 UTC

It's still actively leaking. No one's doing anything

2018-05-09 01:33:35 UTC

Yeah probly gotta fix couple kinks in the system

2018-05-09 01:33:46 UTC

But there is a solution for all problems

2018-05-09 01:34:16 UTC

What if we just invade the saharah desert

2018-05-09 01:34:20 UTC

Take a big piece of its land

2018-05-09 01:34:27 UTC

Make oil rig looking things on top of it

2018-05-09 01:34:31 UTC

Let's drain the mediterrainian into the desert

2018-05-09 01:34:32 UTC

But they have solar panels on em

2018-05-09 01:34:45 UTC

I'm talking about the investment to improve certain technologies, you just want to stick to what works.

Not a bad idea, but it would be better to produce other sources too
