the terms left and right don't cover social policy

2018-07-06 15:10:48 UTC

Political collectivism is about subverting the rights of the individual for the "good" of the collective

2018-07-06 15:10:57 UTC

I see left v. right more as change v. status quo.

2018-07-06 15:11:14 UTC

🤔

2018-07-06 15:11:18 UTC

well that's hardly measurable

2018-07-06 15:11:22 UTC

It is.

2018-07-06 15:11:27 UTC

Tradition is heuristics.

2018-07-06 15:11:38 UTC

and a libertarian wouldn't care if individuals decide to live a traditionalist lifestyle

2018-07-06 15:11:51 UTC

So?

2018-07-06 15:12:22 UTC

and an authoritarian will maintain whatever status quo is most beneficial to maintaining his power

2018-07-06 15:12:30 UTC

whether it's "new" or "old"

2018-07-06 15:12:57 UTC

but my point is that being a left wing libertarian is a meme

2018-07-06 15:13:04 UTC

it doesn't exist

2018-07-06 15:13:09 UTC

It does.

2018-07-06 15:13:22 UTC

It just isn't what's popular today.

2018-07-06 15:13:44 UTC

oh it's popular indeed with people who think it exists

2018-07-06 15:13:51 UTC

like ancoms and anti-fa

2018-07-06 15:14:13 UTC

but when have ancoms and anti-fa been anything but authoritarians?

2018-07-06 15:14:22 UTC

That is extremism, libertarian extremism.

2018-07-06 15:14:27 UTC

Not left extremism.

2018-07-06 15:14:38 UTC

it's not libertarian though

2018-07-06 15:14:41 UTC

Anarchy = Max libertarian.

2018-07-06 15:14:43 UTC

it's authoritarian

2018-07-06 15:14:44 UTC

Yes, it is.

2018-07-06 15:15:02 UTC

the desire to control others through violence is authoritarian

2018-07-06 15:15:05 UTC

It means completely free of government.

2018-07-06 15:15:10 UTC

Zero government.

2018-07-06 15:15:13 UTC

My mind cannot be changed on that fact

2018-07-06 15:15:15 UTC

All controlled by the people.

2018-07-06 15:15:49 UTC

but controlling others through violence is a de-facto government

2018-07-06 15:16:03 UTC

No, that's just public uprising.

2018-07-06 15:16:06 UTC

a government really is just a gang with more legitimacy

2018-07-06 15:16:41 UTC

the fundamental difference between a democratic government and other forms of government in concept is that the democratic government can be held accountable

2018-07-06 15:17:04 UTC

Democracy is just two wolves and a sheep deciding what is for dinner

2018-07-06 15:17:22 UTC

having a majority agree with you doesn't give you the right to perform atrocities

2018-07-06 15:17:34 UTC

<:GWfroggyBlobWokeThink:398570327942365195>

2018-07-06 15:18:12 UTC

governments don't usually tell their people they want to commit atrocities

2018-07-06 15:18:33 UTC

Ancoms themselves to be honest, are not living in a very pragmatic world in my opinion. You can't tax people without everyone wanting to be taxed, thus you'd need a form of governmental body.

2018-07-06 15:18:35 UTC

the nazis ran on the platform on deporting the jews and that was always their public explanation

2018-07-06 15:18:37 UTC

but if a majority of people want to commit an attrocity, does that make it right?

2018-07-06 15:18:42 UTC

next to labour camps
