saladin was 12th century
Ahh okay. Then I understand
glad i could help
lol
Yeah thanks man!
learned all that from listening to podcasts and reading wiki
good to have a clear view of that stuff, just because people will try to push an agenda
even ancient history can be used for that, at least among more right leaning people, i think
Hmm. True.
like eg. 'the crusaders were tough and brave'... no they were just thugs motivated by self gain and fanatical religion when it suited them (like a lot of other historical warriors)
you should actually listen to (or read; I listened to it) Tom Holland's 'In the Shadow of the Sword' some time
it's an interesting book
it talks about origins of islam, and what happened before and lead up to that
Yes. I'll be sure to see if I can find it in the library.
maybe a bit biased, but so long as you keep an open mind
To which side is he biased?
imo, against islam
but other people might say he's neutral
so i dunno, you be the judge
lol
I'll keep an open mind
awesome
im a slow reader, i like to listen
but i do have a 'Guns of August' on my book shelf
nice talking to you man
Yeah same here. Great talk.
I usually prefer reading haha. I read rather fast.
if you want a book that's very obviously biased against islam, then there's 'myths of the andalusian paradise' lol
if you don't want that, ignore it haha
I'll try to read that too.
I like hearing from every side. Even if they're biased.
it's not as good, it's more nitpicky imo
Hmm.
I'll see if I can pick it up when I don't have anything else to read.
what're you reading right now?
I'm reading some normal novels for a school project
oh yeah
Just the hobbit, and a book called Warlock.
for a school project?
Yes
