independent and in the EU. did not the EU say that wants to take away the independence of it member states <:what:382980756139409409>

hmm... chatter indicates several MP's not happy with how democracy will look if Yvette Cooper's motion is passed - so there might be some change sides or abstain.

2019-01-29 19:18:03 UTC

...it will be close - result should be within the next hour.

Let's see who's who <:pepe_smug:378719408341909506>

2019-01-29 19:25:21 UTC

Labour issued three-line whip to support it, but Corbyn never obeyed the whips himself, so MP's with conscience probably won't fall in line.

2019-01-29 19:27:16 UTC

Tory Brexiters are supporting Theresa May tonight, because the best chance is to buy some time at the moment.

2019-01-29 19:29:19 UTC

the one thing May don't have is time

2019-01-29 19:30:35 UTC

yes, but it ticks down the clock to deadline, when no-deal Brexit will happen by default if Theresa May cannot get EU to change deal in time (virtually mission impossible)

2019-01-29 19:31:25 UTC

- The vote tonight could screw that all up if it wins (the Yvette Cooper one in particular)

2019-01-29 19:40:09 UTC

Hard to swallow pills: The no-deal deadline is meaningless

2019-01-29 19:43:50 UTC

it's only meaningless if it gets changed

2019-01-29 19:44:15 UTC

Labour issued an order that Corbyn didn't follow? He needs to close ranks on his own party if he can't control it.

2019-01-29 19:44:32 UTC

he has surounded himself with people who are literally socialists.

2019-01-29 19:44:51 UTC

Corbyn is literally the Labour MP that rebelled the most against instruction

2019-01-29 19:45:13 UTC

Who is the real leader of Labour then?

2019-01-29 19:46:19 UTC

well, Corbyn is residing over the current joke of an opposition, but the "respectable" Labour MP's are all Blairites.

2019-01-29 19:47:15 UTC

Whose most likely to be leader if Corbyn wasn't there?

2019-01-29 19:47:21 UTC

or at least the big names.

2019-01-29 19:48:29 UTC

Yvette Cooper is a Blairite... if her bill passes tonight, it will take no-deal off the table and put a delay on deadline - but that would also be relying on EU agreeing to extend deadline date.

2019-01-29 19:50:13 UTC

- if it passes, she will become a favourite to replace Corbyn, assuming the commie cabal don't stop a Blairite taking control... Corbyn lost a no-confidence vote a while back and never stood down, so he's planning on clinging on for as long as he can.

2019-01-29 19:57:09 UTC

YVETTE COOPER BILL JUST BEEN DEFEATED

2019-01-29 19:57:45 UTC

So... no deal Brexit?

no extension would be a victory

2019-01-29 19:59:59 UTC

YES - BILL DESIGNED TO SUBVERT BREXIT JUST LOST

2019-01-29 20:00:15 UTC

we're not quite there yet, but this is a massive win

2019-01-29 20:00:31 UTC

its habbedig

2019-01-29 20:01:15 UTC

there are still a couple of other bills being voted on that could still screw things up, but that was the big one remoaners were hoping on

2019-01-29 20:26:40 UTC

`An article has recently made the rounds on the Chinese internet, whereby it estimates that there are 48.9 million Chinese Communist Party secretariesโ€”a position equivalent to a Party bossโ€”in the entire country.

According to a June 2018 article by state-run media Xinhua, there are a total of 89.56 [million] Party members in total. That means over half of the cadres are Party bosses.

By a conservative average of an annual salary of 50,000 yuan (about $7400)โ€”a typical sum for a Chinese citizen with a comfortable standard of livingโ€”that means the total salary payments to Party secretaries alone would equal 2.4 trillion yuan (roughly $353 billion). `

China is corrupt? who'd have thunk

2019-01-29 20:28:23 UTC

and they are running in to the age old problem with communism. at one point you run out of other peoples money

2019-01-29 20:29:02 UTC

An amendment just won a vote that prevents a no-deal Brexit, but it isn't legally binding.

2019-01-29 20:29:27 UTC

(it indicates the mood of Parliament)

2019-01-29 20:30:08 UTC

Why do you think they want taiwan? The 5 or 6 'Special economic zones' arn't enough, Taiwan set up as one would help support their balloon economy for a while longer.

2019-01-29 20:30:12 UTC

you cant make a deal if the EU don't want to play ball regardless of what tamer tantrum you are pulling off

It's not us, it's them
