@ the whole women and islam thing: I am not sure what it is that it's often women who support or enforce this stuff. Perhabs it's power. They are now given a tool to enforce their will over other people, people that they perhabs disliked their whole life. Also the same with FGM. It's in most cases that the older generation of women forces it on the children. Women that had to endure FGM themselves. But they do it nontheless. Perhabs because it's "tradition" or perhabs because it gives them power over an other human beeing after they were wronged themselves and it makes them feel better. Same with slavery in all of history. There were slaves who were given power over other slaves and they treated them not better then the masters did. They may still be slaves, but now they are better then the other slaves, because now they have power over other humans beiings.
