Longer, really, but it accelerated with the internet and social media
Depends on the city. I mean I'm in the Midwest we don't get AntiFa around here. If you tried that Portland bullshit downtown normal dudes just going to work would likely tool you.
@Jym I'm in Portland.
Go outside of town about 15-20min in any direction, and they'll do the same.
If this city falls apart, they'll get no help from the surrounding area.
Here's the thing on that. I'm in the middle of a city and it's like that. Like I can *walk* to the Opera. We just don't, culturally, tolerate that sort of behavior in this part of the country. It's not... polite. Which is a big deal here. You can open carry in the gas station but it would be unthinkable not to thank the clerk and wish them a nice day.
That sounds nice
Alaska was like that a bit
Yeah where were you at? I like Metlakatla might retire up that way.
Take me with you, I'll work for free lol
Oh man we got jobs. Cost of Living is 1/2 what you see on the coasts too. Here I've got a good infographic on it;

@Jym It's not that accurate, if you're not taking commuting into account
Commuting? Not sure what you mean @Fitzydog . I mean commuting actually raises your costs. A McMansion out in the burbs will cost 2-4 times what a nice place with hardwodos costs in the city.
I live outside of the city, and housing is cheaper
Hipsters want to live *in* the city, which drives up prices
Yeah it's the opposite here.
I make under half of the amount listed for Portland, and I can put a downpayment on a home soon
turns out the Canadian that was sentence to death was a former convicted drug trafficker back in Canada that was let off easy by a judge that did feel sorry for him

There's actually a city program where you can get repos for low 5-figures. Now you're looking at likely another 20-30 in remod unless you can do some yourself.
But my point is a guy who drives a forklift for Amazon can buy a house here.
I'll be buying some land, and putting a pre-fab on it
Yeah I got a co-worker who did that his buddies have some out of town too. Nice place to go hunting.
He's talking about bringing venison chili to the company cook-off. We're both always in the top three. I can't compete on that end as I don't hunt but I've got some chilis from my sister that might win it for me this year.
Venison Tacos are the shit
Reindeer always tasted funny to me
Not sure I ever had venison tacos. But deer meat is pretty easy to get. We have a couple of big gun shows and hunters always post up with a freezer of cuts. As I understand it the trick is to buy max licenses every season because the bow tags carry over if you don't turn them in.
Technically, it's illegal to sell meat you've hunted
Fucking where?
It's federal as far as I know. It was to curb for-profit hunting
hah, most of the deer I eat is from out of season hunting
Well, I mean, Fuck 'em. Go enforce immigration law in San Fran of drug law in Colorado. I'll buy by deer jerky at the show until then....
Or I mean non-hunting you can go in with 4 people and buy a 1/4 pig too. You need a freezer to do that but it pays for itself.
We got cows recently
real beef hours
I might buy a cow next year.
Like, the reserve-your-own-beef kind of buy
learn to make cheese
Yeah that I miss about out west we don't get as much fresh beef here. Just pork and venison.
No 5G till 2020, good or bad?
