his 12 rules, stated as they are, are easy to follow
the chapters are for the Big Brain Deep Think explanation
of why you should follow them and the full details of the rules
I have read the book I completely disagree with the philosophy.
I know for a fact that those 12 rules will not work for everyone.
In fact some people with great drive and people with little Drive will actually be harmed by trying to follow those rules
@flyingfoxel Like, there's a reason the NPC meme exists. You think those people its based on have any ability to understand the complexities of the human psyche in complete detail?
Or *want to?*
That's fair, Lexi
Everyone's different
That's what I'm trying to get at the book is a circlejerk if you're already conscious enough to pick up the book in the first place you probably don't need it.
I think in your head, you're inadvertently strawmanning his argument
oof lexi
that's a big oof
frigid take
I mean, if its an antidote for chaos, it kinda assumes that chaos is the problem your having if you follow the book.
Plus, you're conflating two different works of his into one, @flyingfoxel
If it isnt your problem then it stands to reason the rules wont help much
I'm talking generally about the person and when I mention the book I'm talking specifically about the book
^
I'm talking about Maps of Meaning
Virgin ww2 vs chad 7 years war.
If your life is a clusterfuck it may do you some good
There are people who literally thrive on chaos. Aswell which is something he doesn't really take into account. I know plenty of artists and people in the military who don't feel normal unless they are actively in some chaotic situation.
Maps is the more verbose and convoluted 12 rules @M4Gunner
@flyingfoxel They're thriving on chaos, because they're trying to control it

I dont think anyone thrives in chaos, its just some people know how to work it into some kind of order better then others.
@Banks=Gay This
there are some people go through such extremes that normal orderly life isn't enough for them they actually require crazyshit to be happening around them to stay sane and act normal.
That's not it at all, tbh
Because the crazy s*** is their new normal
It's because the mundane is boring, an unchallenging
@M4Gunner 12 rules is the more focused and slightly dumbed for the layman version of maps, IIRC
Yes @Fitzydog
same ideas and lessons, but Maps is far more <:think_woke:378717098681171988>
@King Canuck It's the why vs the how
Wot
You get the audiobook version of both his books for like two bucks
My ma already figured me out after I bought Conscience of a Conservative by my boi.
