If you make an absolute statement all you have to do to disprove it is find one thing that contradicts the absolute

2018-11-01 04:49:05 UTC

Its really fun too

2018-11-01 04:49:51 UTC

Like when someone says there is an absolute morality all you have to do is find one contradiction

2018-11-01 04:50:03 UTC

like?

2018-11-01 04:50:39 UTC

> I have an objective morality
> Sometimes I make exceptions that are a better choice in the situation

2018-11-01 04:50:52 UTC

lol

2018-11-01 04:51:16 UTC

going against objective morality does not disprove its objectiveness

2018-11-01 04:51:36 UTC

But you made a moral choice that you believed was right that went against it

2018-11-01 04:52:04 UTC

This isn't difficult. If you make the claim that we live in a moral universe, a universe with an objective moral standard, that exists independently of what anybody thinks, simply describe what that standard is and how we know what it is. You've said that moral questions have a true or false quality to them, so say how we discover that truth or falsehood. If you actually have a point that isn't complete and utter shit, you can answer that most basic of basic questions.

Funnily enough, Occam's razor has an application here.

2018-11-01 04:52:43 UTC

> Cant wait to see the whole text of the bible dropped in here

2018-11-01 04:53:02 UTC

> I propose the whole text of the bee movie as my alternative objective morality

2018-11-01 04:53:03 UTC

the objective morality by definition would be indescribable by a human as we could not understand it

2018-11-01 04:53:13 UTC

Option 1).
Morality is objective, but you can go against it with subjective descisions.

Option 2).
Morality is subjective.

2018-11-01 04:55:54 UTC

Yeah Paul, explain the morality of the universe right now please

2018-11-01 04:56:11 UTC

So what makes christian morality the true objective morality as opposed to say...
satanic morality?

2018-11-01 04:56:23 UTC

No is doesn't Dan. Because murder would go against the natural imperative of the human species, ensuring the species survival.

Whereas in other species the weaklings are killed because their survival will be a detriment to the survival of a species.

2018-11-01 04:56:54 UTC

@meratrix i have no clue what you are talking about

2018-11-01 04:57:01 UTC

how dare you posit a theory that there's an objective morality without being ready to define the code of the universe

2018-11-01 04:57:03 UTC

The fundamental Christian ethics

2018-11-01 04:57:22 UTC

@DanConway I'm responding to the quote you deleted.

2018-11-01 04:57:42 UTC

Kinda hard to give a full fledged response though since you deleted it.

2018-11-01 04:57:47 UTC

@meratrix go to bed its 1 am

2018-11-01 04:58:18 UTC

@HungBunny don't make a claim if you can't back it up. He claims there's an objective morality, but won't say what it is or where it comes from or how he knows its there. It's nothing but an empty assertion and he's done nothing but dodge answering to any of it for over an hour. Bloody unbelievable.

2018-11-01 04:58:21 UTC

the point of the quote was that arguing about which one is better implies there is a correct answer outside of personal preference in order for it to be a meaningful conversation

2018-11-01 04:59:05 UTC

Being outside of personal preference does not make it objective. Hence the example I provided above.

2018-11-01 04:59:14 UTC

Arguing which one is better means there's an argument. Which means there are people who believe in each side.
