Well and other factors. Like external groups preassuring companies to boycott, and so on.

22 states have similar laws. It makes sense for states to do so especially if they have businesses with heavy isreali trade. Though tbh that law just needs tweeked.

To say no contractor with any gov agency can boycott anyone.

2018-12-30 17:45:41 UTC

Done and done.

It removes political statements that can be misconstrewed as state sanctioned.

Itd be like if people in Oregon tried to do the same with Japan

A government boycott is a sanction

2018-12-30 17:47:06 UTC

And sanctions are a great negotiation tool

2018-12-30 17:47:18 UTC

@Fitzydog yep :V

2018-12-30 17:52:51 UTC

I think that sums it up. Israel, despite what people feel about it, is still an important country to the US. We contract a lot of our defense research to Israel, so we woudn’t want government contractees boycotting it.

2018-12-30 17:55:29 UTC

And it probably will in due time. This one and the many like it will work up to scotus, they will strike it, but then a new one will come barring all of it.

ain't no shame in flat pack furniture

2018-12-30 17:58:25 UTC

But yea most states with such a law have an economy that has isreali trade involved. Like fitzy said. It would be like the nw having a group stand that boycotts japan or korea. They would soon have a similar law. The issue is isreal is the first time an ally has had such feverish boycotts, and in a time the government contracts extensively for near everything. So its simply a new thing they are dealing with

2018-12-30 17:58:31 UTC

>conservatives justices
You mean people who won't pull laws outta their ass?

2018-12-30 17:59:05 UTC
