Like the likely reason it exist more probably has to do with our collective feelings of Isreal rather than Isreal itself.

22 states have similar laws. It makes sense for states to do so especially if they have businesses with heavy isreali trade. Though tbh that law just needs tweeked.

I think that sums it up. Israel, despite what people feel about it, is still an important country to the US. We contract a lot of our defense research to Israel, so we woudn’t want government contractees boycotting it.
And it probably will in due time. This one and the many like it will work up to scotus, they will strike it, but then a new one will come barring all of it.

But yea most states with such a law have an economy that has isreali trade involved. Like fitzy said. It would be like the nw having a group stand that boycotts japan or korea. They would soon have a similar law. The issue is isreal is the first time an ally has had such feverish boycotts, and in a time the government contracts extensively for near everything.
