Nice work @turtwig I should get you to make a new handle for my grandfather's old machete. One I made kinda sucks.

2019-02-08 16:50:38 UTC

yus and she has a dumb phone like me

2019-02-08 16:52:53 UTC

you're welcome to come for dinner when you marry her

2019-02-08 16:53:19 UTC

My problem is I cannot get a drill to go through the steel, I used a cobalt metal drill and nothing

2019-02-08 16:59:43 UTC

@EnderOctanus you'd probably be better making it by hand tbh

That's a weird way to ask a group of lads for sexual advice ever ?

2019-02-08 17:00:03 UTC

I made it by hand out of oak

2019-02-08 17:00:13 UTC

oh rip

2019-02-08 17:00:19 UTC

get better at woodworking

2019-02-08 17:00:25 UTC

But now I cannot drill through the steel to fasten it

2019-02-08 17:00:40 UTC

I meqn it looks okay just not fancy

Like it would be cool to have some embellishments

2019-02-08 17:02:03 UTC

I don't plan on using it for actual work, migut hang it up

2019-02-08 17:02:13 UTC

🎷 🐉

2019-02-08 17:02:32 UTC

our machine isn't fine detail

2019-02-08 17:02:55 UTC

Yeah I don't even have a workbench though

2019-02-08 17:03:12 UTC

I literally have to do everything the hardest way

2019-02-08 17:04:05 UTC

Louisiana humidity ruins ungalvanized steel though

2019-02-08 17:04:29 UTC

Had to use electrolysis to clean the thing it was so bad

2019-02-08 17:04:38 UTC

Got it all shiny

2019-02-08 17:05:14 UTC

Then a dqy later it was rusty again after it rained. And it didnt even rain on the machete.

2019-02-08 17:06:13 UTC

I used so much oil too to protect the steel

2019-02-08 17:06:48 UTC

I have considered gun bluing but I want it to have that natural bright steel look

Sounds like learning experiences to me 🤷🏿

2019-02-08 17:09:01 UTC

@EnderOctanus nickel plating maybe?

2019-02-08 17:10:23 UTC

cool

2019-02-08 17:10:37 UTC

I don't have the know-how or supplies to do much.

2019-02-08 17:11:55 UTC

The metal is amazing though I wish I knew the manufacturer so I coild get the details on the steel they used. Flexible but so hard, never seen anything like it

2019-02-08 17:13:27 UTC

lithium blade

2019-02-08 17:13:31 UTC

pew pew

2019-02-08 17:13:37 UTC

sound like something you make leaf springs out of

2019-02-08 17:14:09 UTC

Hm

2019-02-08 17:14:38 UTC

I mean I literally cannot get a drill through it to fasten the new handle

2019-02-08 17:14:53 UTC

turtwife's grandpa has an armory of antique firearms

2019-02-08 17:15:15 UTC

Used the hardest cobalt drill I could buy
