I mean I literally cannot get a drill through it to fasten the new handle

2019-02-08 17:14:53 UTC

turtwife's grandpa has an armory of antique firearms

2019-02-08 17:15:15 UTC

Used the hardest cobalt drill I could buy

2019-02-08 17:15:37 UTC

cool

2019-02-08 17:15:39 UTC

sounds like spring steel. flexible but hard as coffin nails

2019-02-08 17:15:49 UTC

Yeah I have an old broken Belgian double barrel

2019-02-08 17:16:26 UTC

Who knows where my family got it

2019-02-08 17:16:54 UTC

But yeah that steel gives ,e so much grief.

2019-02-08 17:17:33 UTC

diamond tip

2019-02-08 17:17:40 UTC

Broke it

2019-02-08 17:17:44 UTC

2019-02-08 17:17:53 UTC

Yeah even lubricated

2019-02-08 17:18:06 UTC

Took the diamond right off

2019-02-08 17:18:14 UTC

try with your teeth

2019-02-08 17:18:23 UTC

the ones in the back

2019-02-08 17:18:25 UTC

Thing only drills wood and brick now lmao

2019-02-08 17:18:31 UTC

some of the best spring steel is insane hard. it made to withstand the abuse of what ever you throw at it and just flex right back to it original shape

2019-02-08 17:18:46 UTC

Yes that is this machete alright

2019-02-08 17:19:03 UTC

I don't think it can break. But it sure can rust

2019-02-08 17:21:22 UTC

I wanted tp use brass fasteners, but now it lookslike I have to usethe old rivet holes that vary in size. So I will jave to actually rivet the damn thing. I don't want to make rivets out of brass though for obvious reasons. I would be doing this by hand without an anvil.

2019-02-08 17:22:36 UTC

Getting the old rivets out was hard, too, had to drill one out because it was practically attached to the blade. No welds though

2019-02-08 17:23:49 UTC

Its just so hard, and takes so much time to make any progress that, by the time you manage to do anything, the damn thing has rusted again just by existing, despite numerous coatings of oil.

2019-02-08 17:25:10 UTC

If I had an anvil things would be smoother.

2019-02-08 17:25:30 UTC

I have to use bricks instead, which has obvious problems.

2019-02-08 17:26:09 UTC

Maybe with this job, if I get it, I can buy a little block of railroad track as a DIY anvil.

Thanks Ender btw I'm probs going to Prison cus you talk alot about your knife.

2019-02-08 17:28:50 UTC

Grandfather was a silversmith and a watchmaker before he became a useless alcoholic.

2019-02-08 17:28:52 UTC

2019-02-08 17:28:56 UTC

2019-02-08 17:29:36 UTC

Yeah uh

2019-02-08 17:29:51 UTC

Try not living in a police state Broo

2019-02-08 17:30:21 UTC

Also, I dunno if anyone is gonna let me borrow a water cutter Turt lmao

2019-02-08 17:30:53 UTC

And I am reluctant to let somone else do my project you know?

2019-02-08 17:35:34 UTC

My hand tremor can make fine detail work a nightmare as well. I always wanted to be a soldier, or a blacksmith. What a life.

2019-02-08 17:37:14 UTC

Dunno anyone who would take on an apprentice, either.

2019-02-08 17:37:46 UTC

was reading that making stuff with your hands like wood working or metal working was one of the best antidepressants they have found for men ever

2019-02-08 17:38:00 UTC

I believe it

2019-02-08 17:38:25 UTC

I have an indescribable... Feeling as though I NEED to make something.

2019-02-08 17:38:41 UTC
