theres a small possibility that it was an intentional real politik move by russia, but that seems unlikely, unless it was tit for tat for something we don't know
the only sides to gain from it with the information we know are usa/israel

one other reason I can think of the russians deliberately would have done it was for information and deterence: how far is the west actually prepared to go with their proxy invasion and annexation of ukraine into the eu, and maybe they should be aware of whats at stake with civilians still flying over, and in proximity
