But the medical sector has basically seen zero growth in labor productivity in the past half century, yet wages have increased three fold

In any sector where the change in the marginal product of labor is less than the change in total factor productivity, wages will skyrocket
i.e.
Service sectors have to pay their employees more than they're "worth" because if not they will choose sectors where wages are naturally rising (historically it has been manufacturing)
